Summary / Role Purpose

The engineer will be part of the SeaScape Research and Development team, responsible for developing cutting-edge software for semiconductor analysis. ANSYS RedHawk-SC stands as the initial ANSYS product based on the innovative SeaScape Elastic Compute Architecture for Electronic Design Automation (EDA). Engineered to manage extensive data sets and computations across distributed machines, ANSYS RedHawk-SC enables designers of advanced system-on-chip designs (SoCs) to evaluate more electromigration (EM) and voltage drop (IR) scenarios daily and establish a high level of confidence in their design sign-off.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a solid grasp of the code and the team's software development processes.
  • Collaborate with the manager and colleagues to define and implement new capabilities. Once projects are outlined, the engineer should be capable of delivering medium-sized projects with minimal guidance.
  • Identify and resolve code issues.
  • Provide code that meets requirements within the set timeline. Ensure that the code is efficient, scalable, maintainable, extensible, robust, and easy to comprehend.
  • Enhance code to optimize tool runtime and memory capacity.
  • Develop unit, regression, and/or system-level tests to thoroughly validate new features or modifications.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with the manager, technical leads, and fellow engineers to refine solutions and articulate changes that may impact others.
  • Demonstrate and comprehend best practices in software engineering.
  • Act as a knowledge source for other members in the project team.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with up to 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ with a wide and in-depth understanding of the language.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
  • Robust background in data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
  • Thorough understanding of operating systems and networking.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts swiftly, comprehend complex systems, and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Capability to deliver high-quality work punctually.
  • Quick ramp-up ability and the capacity to technically mentor junior team members.
  • Aptitude to collaborate with customer-support engineers to troubleshoot tool issues at the customer's end.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas is advantageous:

  • Successful development of large-scale commercial software.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and optimizing systems using distributed processing.
  • Proficiency with the Python programming language.
  • Familiarity with developing distributed EDA tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
