Optical Validation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Optical Solutions Validation Engineer to join our client's advanced networking team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with optical transport systems, including packet-optical platforms, reconfigurable line systems (RLS), and DWDM/OTN technologies. This role is responsible for end-to-end validation, testing, and certification of optical solutions in lab environments to support production deployment and network scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute solution validation and interoperability testing of optical transport platforms and line systems.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, set up lab configurations, and validate system performance, features, and scalability.
  • Conduct DWDM/OTN testing, including spectral analysis, fiber impairment validation, and amplifier tuning across various topologies.
  • Validate transport of high-speed services (e.g., 100G/400G/800G), Layer 0/Layer 1 grooming, and client-side protocols (Ethernet, SONET/SDH, Fibre Channel).
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and operations teams to troubleshoot and isolate system-level issues.
  • Use network management platforms for service provisioning, monitoring, and fault isolation.
  • Document all test activities and outcomes, and provide feedback to product development teams for enhancements and issue resolution.
  • Support network upgrade simulations, regression testing, and performance benchmarking prior to deployment.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in optical solution validation, network integration, or system testing.
  • In-depth understanding of optical transport technologies, including DWDM, OTN, and amplification techniques.
  • Experience validating transport services (100G and above) and interoperability across vendor-neutral environments.
  • Solid knowledge of fiber optics, optical impairments, and physical layer troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with client-side interfaces and technologies such as Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and Fibre Channel.
  • Skilled in using optical test equipment such as Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT), and OTDRs.
  • Proficiency with network management systems and service orchestration tools.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
