About the Team


LGS is responsible for working with suppliers to deliver right products sourced responsibly at best quality and cost for our retail stores.

This division owns Product Sourcing, Vendor Management, Quality Assurance, End-to-end product management and Product Sustainability.

Job Summary:


Sourcing Manager is primarily responsible for creating tactical plans to enact Director of Sourcing (SD)'s sourcing strategies for areas of product responsibility, drive vendor sourcing / evaluation, vendor / product development activities and provide leadership and necessary support to subordinate sourcing teams to ensure on time execution and quality products that meet or exceed our customer's needs / expectations.

Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and cultivating vendor partnerships to meet current and future needs according to strategic direction of product categories, negotiating pricing programs with suppliers and preparing quotes and proposals.

Also responsible to drive / manage product execution from concept to in store delivery of quality product.


Sourcing Manager is expected to assist Sourcing leaders to manage pricing to secure the lower cost options through effective negotiation and value improvement initiatives.

He/She must bring industry product/manufacturing insights and innovative product offers to Merchandising team. Also assist Sourcing Leader to achieve total company financial goals. He/She must understand vendor/factory organizational structure and financial feasibility and identify potential financial risks and report. Support Sourcing Leader to develop and strengthen vendor capabilities – Great vendor, Great product and Lower cost. Identify and resolve operational issues proactively with the collaboration with cross functional teams.


The position is accountable for success / failure in product category as determined by achievement of goals set forth by the company.


Sourcing Manager is also responsible for engaging and inspiring current teams to meet or exceed job responsibilities, while also working with sourcing leader to build talent for succession planning within the organization.

Coach and develop Sourcing Specialist through work assignment, direct training and regular feedback in order to achieve company current / future goals and succession planning needs.

Sourcing Manager is also responsible to coach Sourcing Specialist on techniques to bridge cultural and communication divides with India & US-based co-workers, assure global sourcing office is operating within the established Lowe's Code of Ethics, policies, procedures and local laws of the assigned country.


To accomplish this, the Sourcing Manager must have solid knowledge of retail business, import sourcing practices / procedures, supplier development, negotiation, product development, manufacturing process and people development.

This manager must also demonstrate excellent business skills, financial expertise, relationship effectiveness and versatility by being flexible and adaptive to the strategic direction of the organization.


Job function includes frequent travel to vendors to promote vendor relationships, product development and troubleshooting initiatives while managing related expenses in accordance to budget.


Years of Experience:
10+ years of experience in International Business, Sourcing and Merchandising

Qualification & Certifications (optional)

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or MBA

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and import sourcing practices / procedures
  • Knowledge of India supplier base and strong supplier development experience
  • Demonstrated leadership of teams – both direct reports and cross business functions
  • Excels at relationship management
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Must be good with data and number crunching skills
Secondary Skills (desired)

Relevant industry experience related to Home Improvement products

Hands on product knowledge and experience of responsible product categories

Advance Excel knowledge
