Job Purpose:

  • The Finance function will work at both a strategic and operational level and will represent and be the voice of the India business from a finance perspective.
  • Strategically the Finance Director will work in partnership with the country leadership and the MD to deliver on its longterm goals and deliver sustainable profits for the business. Operationally, the role will be responsible for the financial health, planning, implementation, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations.
  • India being one of the fastest growing countries in the region and globally and currently going through large scale optimization requires meticulous attention to detail, strong leadership, and a focus on leading a high growth business that is currently going through transformation to maintain economies of scale as the business expands.
  • The Finance Director is key to delivering accountable growth in the business and plays a role of critical support in executing the longterm strategy while ensuring the integrity of the financial results and sponsoring key projects.
  • This role forms part of the regional finance leadership and will be responsible for formation and execution of finance strategy for India.
Responsibilities Description

Strategic & Operational

  • Work with Executive Team, providing strategic and financial input.
  • Develop financial reporting appropriate to manage and proactively diagnose the business.
  • Strategically contribute to the Executive Team and raise the level of financial acumen on all Executive Team members.
  • Continually review all aspects of the business to ensure profit maximization.
  • Assist with new business opportunities and commercial negotiations with potential suppliers.
  • Conduct area reviews with the Executive Team to improve business performance.
  • Strong financial control of the operations including Legal and Risk Management
Financial

  • Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budget,
- credit, insurance, tax and treasury.

  • Assist leaders with the business planning process.
  • Responsible for the preparation of all management, financial and statutory reporting, including consolidated profit and loss, KPI, and other reports required for management or Board in accordance with Flight Centre Group Policies and International Accounting Standards
  • Ensure all financial, legal and risk management and other relevant systems are followed.
  • Ensure accounting and tax requirements as per local regulations and provide expertise in tax planning and compliance, ensuring adherence to tax laws and optimizing tax strategies to support financial goals.
  • Obtaining best practice internal audit and GFR ratings in all areas
  • Achieve finance costs savings through negotiations with external suppliers.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to risk management, in conjunction with global risk management as necessary.
  • Assist in the assessment of acquisition opportunities.
  • Work with global specialist finance teams to achieve group objectives, including risk management, tax, treasury, business ownership scheme.
  • Oversee accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Facilitate alignment with global financial practice.
  • Ensure that region meets its responsibilities in respect of statutory reporting, tax, licensing, company secretarial and other reporting.
  • Focus on cost management and efficiency initiatives.
  • Compliance with global Flight Centre expense policies and procedures
Business Acumen

  • Deliver financial analysis rather than financial data
  • Conduct regular meetings with all direct reports (including results, issues, strategies, finance people, staff development, synergies, process improvement)
  • Set financial direction and ensure implementation of global finance strategies
  • Ensure KPI's and remuneration is set in accordance with finance KPI system and salary guidelines. Liaise with pillar leaders where appropriate
  • Work with the Regional Finance Director to improve reporting time frames and month end processes.
  • Assist Regional Finance Director with resource planning and finance team
- structure.

  • Oversee all finance recruitment.
  • Ensure team members live the Flight Centre philosophies, and be a role model in this regard
  • Establish and monitor customer focused business models for finance
  • Drive productivity and process improvement through appropriate business models
People

  • Mentor and support Financial Directors on technical, operational, commercial and people issues
  • Create a Brightness of Future (BOF)for all finance
  • Assist with the technical, personal and leadership development of Financial Controllers
  • Formalize an information sharing process between Financial Controllers
  • Ensure there is a focus on developing strong future leaders
  • Promote developmental secondments of finance people to other nations/abroad
  • Support and uphold minimum standards as set by the Global FINANCE DIRECTOR and Flight Centre finance community.
  • Coordinate finance conferences and recognition nights, as appropriate
  • Process
  • Standardize internal controls, business processes and business audit programs
  • Standardize financial systems – one system globally
  • Consistency in reporting, forecasting accuracy, cashflow, capex etc.
  • Develop and standardize risk management processes to minimize loss
Required skills and qualifications

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant / CPA (or equivalent)
  • At least 10 years' relevant experience in key leadership roles within finance function
  • Strong commercial acumen and functional knowledge
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing business strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels.
  • Developing and implementing business models/processes in multisite location
  • Strong analytical skills with initiative to resolve issues or pursue business opportunities as they are identified.
  • Significant Project management experience
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and pressure.
