Your role and responsibilities

Implementing effective sourcing strategies in line with business strategy and region-al/global Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) strategy to ensure that sup-pliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. Ensures all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly.
Ensuring alignment between local and global SCM activities. When managing specific projects, collaborates with proposal, project, and category teams to determine necessary items for procurement during the project. Develops schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets to support project procurement process. Ensure the right supplier selections and develop actively multiple source supplier portfolio according to business needs.
In accordance with Group SCM guidelines and local Division/Business Unit objectives, implementing programs to drive improvement in cost, quality, delivery and working capital (payment terms, lead times, order quantities and purchased material inventory). Secures full utilization of SAP ARIBA global supplier relationship management platform according to relevant procedure, both related to sharing of supplier information and to finding exist-ing high performing suppliers to ABB.
Managing planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts in co-operation with planning and fulfillment function.
Ensures buyers minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guide-lines.
When managing specific projects, in coordination with the Value Chain Manager, oversees delivery process to ensure that cost, quality and delivery time meet project expectations.
Leveraging CIPS category teams locally, regionally and globally to ensure appropriate sup-plier selection. Defines and establishes standard Supply agreements with all major local suppliers.
Providing and maintaining standard terms in purchase contracts or terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines.
Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies and Group or division Supply Chain Management excellence guide-lines (knowledge management, functional training, etc.). Responsible for coordinating SCM talent management.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with more than 10 years' experience in supply chain management & minimum 3 plus years in line manager experience
  • Knowledge in order management on SAP creation of full cost models and RFQ management and having exposure to various ERP tools - SAP Ariba
  • Knowledge of Large Motors and Generators will be an added advantage.
  • Strong, well-developed communication, influencing, coaching and leadership skills.
  • Commercial focus and solid understanding of business dynamics as well as product cost elements
