Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.The Technical Information Solutions (TIS) team within Global Service, Americas Distribution & Service Division (ADSD) creates and delivers technical parts and service information accessible via SIS and SIS2GO critical for the repair and service of Caterpillar products.
Over 300,000 dealer and customer users depend on the information created, managed, and delivered by this team to identify and order Cat parts.
Job SummaryTheService Info Project Lead 1
coordinates the creation & maintenance of service information in support of New Product Introduction & Continuous Process Improvement projects and Revision project timelines; managing projects to ensure service information is completed on time and accurately.
Review day-to-day work completed by service authors for technical accuracy
Provide appropriate coaching to improve performance
Train and mentor new service authors on how to create, validate, and revise service information
Develop and maintain service information in compliance with authoring standards.
Participate in and lead process improvement initiatives
Background / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical/automobile engineering with extensive product knowledge and 7-9 years of progressive work experience in technical information, Product Support, Engineering, or Manufacturing
Previous experience in Operation & maintenance manuals is preferred
Demonstrated skills in technical analysis, process improvement, and collaboration.
Excellent project management and communications skills
Strong initiative, self-driven, and able to work at a fast pace.
Excellent team player

Knowledge of authoring, graphics software, and applications including Arbortext Content Management (ACM), SGML tagging, Canvas, Vis Mockup, TeamCenter, and SIS.
Operational Excellence

Provides effective responses to product group requests for NPI/CPI programs and interactions with a sense of urgency and positive action.
Acts on service information improvement opportunities.Project leadership:
Drives accountability to deliver accurate and complete service information. High focus on improving process efficiency and increasing the value of the technical information provided to dealers and customers.
Effective Communications
:
Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient. Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own performance effectiveness. Independently makes oral presentations and written reports needed for own work. Leads meetings and teams effectively.
Data Gathering & Analysis:
Participates in gathering and analyzing service information business data. Utilizes data to identify problems and reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Identifies and reports problems that arise in the data collection process.
Problem Solving:
Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of everyone involved. Works with all stakeholders to address critical issues and resolve major problems.
