The Technical Information Solutions (TIS) team in the Global Service, Americas Distribution & Service Division (ADSD) is responsible for creating and providing technical parts and service information through SIS and SIS2GO. This information is crucial for the repair and service of Caterpillar products and is relied upon by over 300,000 dealer and customer users for identifying and ordering Cat parts.

Job Summary:

The Service Info Project Lead 1 oversees the creation and upkeep of service information to support New Product Introduction (NPI) & Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion of projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Plan and deliver service information for NPI/CPI/Revision by PG Collaboration
  • Review day-to-day work completed by the service authors for technical accuracy
  • Provide coaching to enhance performance
  • Train and guide new service authors on creating, validating, and revising service information
  • Develop and uphold service information in compliance with authoring standards
  • Engage in and lead process enhancement initiatives

Background / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/automobile engineering with extensive product knowledge and 7-9 years of progressive experience in technical information, Product Support, Engineering, or Manufacturing
  • Previous involvement in Operation & maintenance manuals is advantageous
  • Proficiency in technical analysis, process improvement, and collaboration
  • Strong skills in project management and communication
  • Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working at a brisk pace
  • Excellent team player

What You Have:

  • Technical Excellence: Well-versed in authoring, graphics software, and applications like Arbortext Content Management (ACM), SGML tagging, Canvas, Vis Mockup, TeamCenter, and SIS. Achieves or surpasses performance expectations for service information creation and quality. Provides solutions to significant technical challenges. Assists others in resolving technical or procedural issues
  • Operational Excellence: Offers effective responses to product group requests related to NPI/CPI programs with a sense of urgency and positive action. Seizes service information improvement opportunities
  • Project Leadership: Promotes accountability to deliver accurate and complete service information. Focuses on enhancing process efficiency and the value of technical information for dealers and customers
  • Effective Communications: Delivers constructive feedback that concentrates on behaviors without causing offense. Listens to feedback without defensiveness, utilizing it to enhance performance. Independently conducts oral presentations and prepares reports required for work. Leads meetings and teams effectively
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Participates in collecting and analyzing service information business data to identify and address problems. Reports issues encountered during the data collection process
  • Problem Solving: Identifies specific problems and solutions, understanding different perspectives. Collaborates with stakeholders to address critical issues and solve major problems
