Job Description

Manages and coordinates business and technical projects through all phases of initiation, development, and implementation. Works with clients to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements, and implementation of projects. Ensures that assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting client business objectives. Identifies, analyzes, mitigates, documents, and controls project risks. Provides effective and regular communication within the project team, stakeholders, sponsors, and management. Identifies resource needs for the project and establishes roles, expectations, and goals with team members.

Responsibilities:

The role of Senior Project Manager - Machinery involves handling and executing projects ranging from vessel retrofitting to implementing performance-enhancing ideas and projects related to machinery and hull. This position entails working on various projects that involve incorporating new technologies and compliance-related retrofits. Additionally, you will provide active support to fleet groups and drive innovation.

There will be travel involved in this role, where you will be visiting shipyards for projects you are engaged in. Thus, flexibility in travel and the ability to travel globally without limitations apart from standard visa requirements are essential.

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee marine projects from concept to delivery, ensuring early development and maturation of technologies through clear deliverables, budget, and timeline.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, SMEs, and contractors.
  • Manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize marine engineering knowledge to assess project feasibility and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate the design, construction, and maintenance of marine propulsion systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and components.

Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with marine engine manufacturers' representatives to ensure the seamless integration of technical products into projects.
  • Evaluate technical specifications, performance data, and compatibility.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and classification society requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks on marine equipment and systems.

Budget Control:

  • Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marine engineering.
  • 14-16 years of experience with a minimum of 8 years as a Project Manager in the marine industry.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated manager seeking to lead industry-defining projects.
  • Ability to apply lower TRL technologies to operational assets.
  • Understanding of 2-stroke engine thermodynamics.
  • Experience with leading marine engine manufacturers.
  • Experience in project management or certification would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations in the marine industry.
  • Structured and motivated individual thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Effective communicator capable of engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, the company's language.
