Anushkaa Foundation for Eliminating Clubfoot's (AFEC) purpose is transforming young lives to flourish and unleash their potential. We are working to address the problem of untreated clubfoot in India.

Clubfoot is a congenital birth defect wherein one or both the feet are turned inwards, making it a leading cause of disability in children in the developing world. Based on global estimates, it was estimated more than 85% of the children in low-and middle-income countries do not have access to quality clubfoot treatment.

Clubfoot has an incidence rate of 1 in 800 births making it one of the largest causes of disability in children in the developing world. In India approximately 33,000 children are born with clubfoot every year i.e. almost 19% of the total global clubfoot births.

Untreated clubfoot makes it painful and difficult to walk, and such patients are at a higher risk of discrimination, neglect, sexual and physical abuse, isolation, abandonment, loss of opportunities including education and several other negative socio-economic effects on their lives.

AFEC is present in 141 districts across Eleven (11) states, (Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Maharashtra). AFEC implements its program in partnership with the government. It also partners with select charitable/trust hospitals.

Role Summary

The Communications Officer will be based out at HO- Mumbai and will support the organization to

help plan and lead the internal and external communications

KEY Deliverables

  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills and creative thinking
  • Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X.com, Company website etc.
  • Identify ways to improve communications

1. Position Requirements

Manage Social Media

  • Execute the communication strategy in developing communication products including write-ups, videos, photography, social and digital media products, case stories.
  • Coordination and managing regular updates on the website directly and an annual update with the website vendor.
  • Ensure communication material such as images and videos, independently or in coordination with the Operations team, are updated regularly.
  • Ensure regular, planned social media campaigns based on organizations, events, updates and at least four times a year.
  • Develop and maintain a communications calendar with key events, dates, and deadlines throughout the year.

Content Writing

  • Writing and edit the content that is required by the company (Existing program manuals, press releases, etc)
  • Coordinating with the Operations team for updating a database of 150 patient case stories and adding 100 new patient case stories annually.
  • Developing the annual report
  • Developing event specific reports - three to four annually.
  • Ensuring the content on the website is up to date.
  • Provide human interest stories, photographs, standard templates for donor and government reports.

Video Development

  • Video editing skills
  • Some basic software (Eg; Shortcut)
  • Coordinating with Vendors
  • Coordinating on field video shoots at site

Other Responsibility

  • Develop IEC material for supply to clinics.
  • Develop certificates for participants in training programs.
  • Participate in team and organisation development activities.
Education
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mass Media or Mass Communications
  • Exceptional fluency in English and Hindi. Experience in the social sector will be an added advantage.

  • Good command over spoken and written English and Hindi.
  • Basic knowledge of photography and videos (shooting and editing)
  • Working knowledge of Canva, and CorelDraw will be preferable
  • A background or interest in public health is preferred. Experience in advertising / PR would be an advantage
