About the role

Simon & Schuster India is looking for a Finance Assistant to support the Financial Accountant and Financial Manager with administration and reconciliation of key accounting areas.

The Finance Assistant will be the key contact for the immediate Finance team for all accounting areas across the business, including employee expenses and marketing costs from the marketing and editorial teams.

They will ensure completeness, efficiency and accuracy of financial records for employee expenses, banking, vendor expense and royalty accounting revenue, assisting the Financial Accountant and Financial Controller with improvement of processes and implementation of controls.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Management of employee expenses
  • Month end revenue accounting responsibilities and recordkeeping of expenses
  • Bank GL postings and cash reconciliations
  • Marketing cost accrual accounting
  • Accounting for stock receipts
  • Assisting the Accounts Payable function
  • Other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Accounting for Royalties
  • Compliance of Tax Deducted at Source and Goods and Service Tax
Person specification requirement

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Team player
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients
  • Relevant accounting qualification or studies (desired but not essential)
  • Experienced in using Tally accounting software (desired but not essential)
