Primary Focus

  • Overseeing the daytoday operations of residential facilities.
  • Being accessible for students to discuss concerns, problems, or issues they may be facing.
  • Enforcing policies and residence hall regulations.
  • Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinating with relevant authorities and services in case of emergencies.
  • Collaborating with health services to ensure access to medical assistance when needed.
  • Addressing and resolving conflicts or disputes among residents.
  • Play a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive living environment that contributes to the overall wellbeing and success of students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all the matters relating to the hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness of the hostel.
  • Supervise the work of the sanitation staff, maintain control over their attendance and trackers, and maintain the Attendance Register.
  • Organize regular floor meetings with the hostellers keeping the Administration in the loop.
  • Maintaining the room inventories in respect of each room and reporting to the manager any damages to the furniture, electrical, plumbing fixtures, and defacing walls.
  • Arrange for first aid in case of emergency and accompany the students if hospitalization is required.
  • To perform other official duties as may be assigned by the management.
  • Ability to listen to and establish a rapport with students
  • Liaise with administration and other relevant support/services departments to respond to incidents/emergencies and fulfill responsibilities assigned such as ensuring adequate security, sanitation, and essentials for the residents.
  • To ensure the security of the students by coordinating with the security team and guards. Expected to go beyond the call of duty and extend work hours in cases of emergency and if any need arises and be available on callduty whenever required, which provides emergency cover at all times.
  • They have the authority to visit the students at any time in their rooms for their welfare and safety.
  • Participate in and facilitate teamwork in which reliability and the ability to manage time effectively will be the key.
  • The Wardens shall be available in the hostel office every day and at all hours.
  • Enforce discipline and code of conduct in the hostels as per University policies and regulations. To connect with the Administration to mediate roommate conflicts and other such concerns to maintain good order and behavior in the hostels.
  • Ensure safe, healthy living and working environments for resident students.
  • Each Warden will be responsible for the assigned resident students and shall promptly take appropriate action within his/her power on all cases of misbehavior, indiscipline, and sickness of the residents in his/her charge and report to the Manager-Administration for cases beyond his/her powers.

Role Significance

  • Provide resources and guidance to help students navigate their university experience successfully.
  • In times of emergencies, wardens are at the forefront of coordinating responses, ensuring the wellbeing of residents, and collaborating with relevant authorities.
  • Be accessible for students to discuss concerns, offering guidance and assistance when needed.
  • Actively engage in communitybuilding efforts by organizing events, activities, and programs that foster a sense of belonging among residents.
