Aboutthe role

We are looking for anExpert in New Jewellery to support our New Jewellery Team.

As an Expert you will be closely involved withevaluating and arranging lots submitted by our users. Using yourexpert knowledge and extensive commercial network you will beresponsible for creating attractive lot listings every week. Youvisit existing and potential new sellers. When started you providethem with a great onboarding experience supporting the submissionprocess as well as providing guidance in generating the rightquality.

Catawiki strives to keep usertransactions as transparent and fair as possible and your expertiseand experience play a large part in maintaining this standard; youknow better than anyone what items are of interest to our users.You will review lot titles descriptions and pictures and provideusers with an estimated value based on thisinformation.

Your efforts result in exceptionalauctions that bidders will find irresistible. We also expect you tokeep your own auction interesting by working with our salesdepartment thereby drawing in new sellers and diversifying theselection of lots offered at your auction.

What youlldo
  • Be responsible forcurating auctions on a weekly basis
  • Screen lotssubmitted by our users and use your expert knowledge to valuethem.
  • Understand and analyse KPIs and suggestpossible strategies to fix underperformance or suggest strategiesto grow
  • Leverage your extensive network tobring in new buyers and sellers
  • Liase withAccount Managers to bring in new business and diversify theselection of lots offered in your auction
  • Workwith our marketing team to generate an increase of potential sellerand bidder attention for your categoryauctions
  • Liase with the Business Developers tobring in new key accounts and top sellers that diversify theselection of lots offered in yourauction.
  • Attend fairs and exhibitions to meetexisting sellers and newbuyers.
What youllbring
  • GemmologyDiploma from one of the schools recognised by the FEEG orGIA.
  • 510 years experience in the jewellerytrade with knowledge in the manufacturing process and qualitycontrol.
  • Experience in appraising &assessing jewellery set with various preciousstones.
  • Good grasp of market prices and goodunderstanding of the various layers needed when curating a lotonline.
  • Experience analysing and implementingdata within your work and utilising data for future growth andcategory improvements
  • Excellent communicationskills.
  • Good computerskills.
  • A network of potential sellers andexperts in your field.
  • The diplomaticcompetence needed to act as mediator in disputes between users whenneeded.
  • You are a natural team player andthrive in a diverse environment
  • High command ofa European language both verbal andwritten.
  • Fluent inEnglish

Our offices and way ofworking

We have sensationaloffices in Amsterdam Groningen Paris and our newest office inLisbon. Most of our employees are within commutable distance of oneof our office locations and enjoy a hybrid work model. This meanswe expect you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days roughly 40% ofyour working time to collaborate and connect with each other. Theexception is of course if the job description specifically statesthat the role is 100% remote as some experts and sales positionsare.
