Function Description:

The US Consumer Operational Excellence team is the primary team with a mission to enable business growth while maintaining a strong control environment. They act as a Center of Excellence (CoE) within the business, assisting in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and management of Operational Risks related to the business products and processes. This team's scope includes various business verticals across the US Consumer landscape.

In line with Amex's approach to risk management, the Operational Excellence team actively collaborates with other defense lines to ensure risk management framework requirements are met.

Role Requirements:

  • The Analyst, Operational Excellence Risk Detection, Analytics and Testing Automation will play a crucial role in supporting the expansion of an automated control testing program.
  • Understanding critical business processes, conducting data analysis, and developing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for automated risk monitoring.
  • Collaborating with various teams to drive key deliverables and supporting the creation of meaningful insights.

Key activities for the role will include:

  • Setting best practices for Analyst colleagues, supporting KRI code/logic development and data exploration.
  • Mentoring new hires and team members, overseeing deliverables' quality, and presenting insights to business partners.
  • Exploring complex data environments, identifying risks, and collaborating with key stakeholders on risk management initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with data-driven analytics.
  • Preferably, experience in financial services and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve business problems independently.
  • Detail-oriented, team player with strong communication skills, and self-motivated.

Technical Skills and Platform Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in SQL and/or SAS.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and platforms like Hadoop and Big Data.
  • Experience with COSMOS/Tableau is a plus.
