Job Role : Head - Greenfield Project Development (Renewable Energy)
Role Summary:
The role involves leading the origination, evaluation, acquisition, and development of greenfield renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, Hybrid, and Storage) in Gujarat. The incumbent will be responsible for project identification, land acquisition, statutory approvals, stakeholder management, and ensuring projects reach a bankable stage for execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Origination & Development
- Identify and evaluate potential greenfield sites for renewable energy projects across Gujarat.
- Assess technical feasibility, resource potential (solar irradiation, wind mapping), and connectivity to grid infrastructure.
- Conduct due diligence on land, regulatory requirements, and environmental & social impact.
- Land Acquisition & Approvals
- Drive land acquisition strategy including liaison with government bodies, local authorities, and private stakeholders.
- Ensure timely acquisition of clear titles, land conversion, and related statutory compliance.
- Secure all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals (state & central level).
- Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with state nodal agencies, DISCOMs, SECI, and other government authorities.
- Represent the company in policy discussions and regulatory forums in Gujarat.
- Commercial & Financial Structuring
- Support business development team in bidding processes, tariff structuring, and financial modeling inputs.
- Evaluate project economics, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Work with finance & legal teams on project contracts, PPAs, JV agreements, and MoUs.
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, legal, finance, CSR, land, and approvals).
- Drive project timelines from inception to handover to execution teams.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing project development team.
- Sustainability & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with EHS standards, ESG commitments, and social responsibility norms.
- Proactively manage risks related to land, legal disputes, community issues, or regulatory changes.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or Renewable Energy; MBA preferred.
- 12–18 years of experience in renewable energy project development with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of originating and developing large-scale solar/wind/renewable projects in Gujarat.
- Strong network with state nodal agencies, land aggregators, DISCOMs, and regulatory authorities.
- In-depth knowledge of land laws, approvals, and renewable energy policies in Gujarat.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and contract management skills.
- Leadership qualities with ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
