What is a day in the life of an Junior AR/AP Specialist?

  • Manage delegated emails
  • Review and process bills
  • Proactively review aged AR ledgers and follow up for payments
  • Assist in AR / AP month-end tasks and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Review credit card statements and make sure transactions are coded correctly
  • Record auto payments and attach needed documents
  • Review vendor statements and request missing invoices
  • Review expense reports for incorrect or missing information
  • Set up payments
  • Create vendors or customers
  • Apply vendor credits to vendor bills and communicate the application to the vendor
  • Apply zero-dollar payments
  • Reach out to customers about past-due invoices

What will I need to thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting
  • 1 – 3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic understanding of generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable knowledge and closing process
  • Knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Teachable/willingness to learn
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to reach out to team members with questions
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
