Role Description

This is a contract remote role for a Network Operations Specialist at DefinitionIT. The Network Operations Specialist will be responsible for network administration, computer network operations, troubleshooting, and monitoring the Network Operations Center (NOC).


Client location – Canada

REMOTE (INDIA) - FULL TIME - CONTRACT ROLE

WORKING HOURS – NIGHT SHIFT, EST TIME ZONE


RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Assist in planning, design, documentation and implementation of various systems to include servers,

network equipment and software applications.

• Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring, analysis, tuning and capacity planning

• Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices like Firewall, core

switches, routers on any model etc.

• Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools

to ensure high availability and SLA’s.

• Manage & and troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.

• Work closely with the fellow tech team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies.

• Analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems, monitors

usage to ensure security of data and access privileges; monitors data to optimize network performance.

• Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support business requirements.

• Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.

• Assist in the documentation of each office network configuration and troubleshooting procedure.


REQUIREMENTS


• Experience in BGP, OSFP, OSI and EIGRP

• Experience in configuration and management of Next-Gen Firewalls like Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco

• Define network policies and procedures.

• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.

• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.

• Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication

systems.

• Ability to work with all levels of IT staff inside and outside the organization.

• Experience working on MPLS, SDWAN, LAN.

• Maintain, monitor, and upgrade enterprise applications.

• Provide emergency support during any outages.

• Experience using Network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, SYSLOG servers, SNMP and Wireshark


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


• Degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience & must have CompTIA Network + or CCNA/CCNP Certified professional.

• At least 5 years + experience working as a network administrator.

• Must present a highly professional image and attitude.

• Excellent customer-facing and communication skills

• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
