Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead NodeJS Developer to join our dynamic startup team working on Nyburs, India’s soon-to-be top hyperlocal social media platform. This role demands expertise in designing and building complex, scalable backend architectures capable of handling millions of requests daily. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Redis, MQTT, MongoDB (including optimization of MongoDB pipelines), and microservices, along with a strong focus on performance tuning and scalability. Basic AI knowledge is a plus for contributing to future platform enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of server-side applications using NodeJS with clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

• Architect and implement scalable microservices to support rapid growth and millions of daily requests.

• Optimize MongoDB aggregation pipelines for high-performance data querying and manipulation.

• Utilize Redis and MQTT for caching, messaging, and real-time communication to ensure low-latency, reliable services.

• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimize service performance, and ensure stability under heavy loads.

• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features.

• Mentor and guide junior developers to uphold best practices in coding, architecture, and DevOps.

• Stay updated with emerging technologies, especially in backend architecture and AI, contributing to roadmap discussions.

• Work in a fast-paced startup environment with a focus on rapid iteration and scaling.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Proven experience working with large file uploads, media processing and delivery.

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Nodejs, Python, C++, or Java.

• Experience with media processing tools and frameworks like ffmpeg, GStreamer, or similar.

• Knowledge of cloud storage, distributed systems, and optimization techniques.

• Familiarity with video/image codecs, streaming protocols, CDN, and caching strategies.

• Strong problem-solving skills and passion for performance optimization.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience leading NodeJS backend development teams.

• Strong expertise in NodeJS and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Deep knowledge of Redis, MQTT, and MongoDB with experience optimizing MongoDB aggregation pipelines.

• Extensive experience in microservices architecture and building scalable backend systems.

• Hands-on experience designing solutions supporting millions of requests per day.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, and cloud infrastructure.

• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, API design, and security best practices.

• Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred

• Basic knowledge of AI/ML concepts and interest in integrating AI capabilities.

• Startup mindset with passion for building industry-leading social media platforms.

• Experience working in multilingual or hyperlocal platforms is a plus.
