About the Unit

Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) produces, sells, distributes and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa. With offices location and operational units in 20 countries, the region employs over 2000 employees and has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, focusing on developing crop nutrition concepts that increase food production and creating value to the growers - in particular smallholder farmers - whilst minimizing environmental impact of agricultural activities.

YAA is currently undergoing a major transformation, aimed at shifting the existing business models, to generate new revenue streams and ultimately deliver profits in line with Yara’s nature positive food future ambition. A disruptive growth agenda has therefore been put in place to optimize the current portfolio, accelerate digital adoption, partnerships and improve sustainability and farmer’s livelihoods in the YAA countries.

Responsibilities

The role will oversee and manage all people processes, including talent acquisition, onboarding, development, engagement with specific focus on DE&I and Employee engagement.  

 

The key success of the role is to collaborate, support and enable the in-country leaders being the link between the regional office and the India team.  Incumbent will work closely with Country Manager and Functional Managers and collaborate with the YAA regional teams to support and implement the YAA People Strategy.

 

The role reports into the SVP India and will be responsible for:

 

  • Support, drive and advise the SVP India and the leadership team on Yara cultural transformation, engagement and people matters.

  • Lead, manage and develop the India Sales and Marketing People team.

  • Set, review and manage People policies and procedures to ensure that it is aligned with Yara's values, DE&I strategy while supporting the ambition to be "Employer of Choi8ce"

  • Act as champion for the employees, particularly when driving and supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

  • Manage compensation to ensure salary benchmarking to local market, actively addressing the gender pay-gap and providing solutions to attract and retain employees.

  • Accurate and timely collection and analysis of People metrics and data to inform decision making.

  • Act as an innovative, solution focused leaders, capable of driving the People team to achieve the best possible outcomes for the organization.

  • Provide strong leadership to the People team to ensure they partner with managers to meet their employee lifecycle needs.

  • Ensure that all activities delivered by the People department are cost-effective, in budget, fit for purpose and responsive to the needs of all.

  • Ensure the provision of high quality, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and legally compliant advice that enables management to make judgements and take appropriate levels of risk in relation to their people issues.

  • Produce timely management information and analysis to the business.

  • Work collaboratively with the YAA regional and Yara global People & Culture teams. 

Profile
  • Applicable qualification in HR or Social Sciences
  • Extensive experience working in a dynamic, complex HR environment of a quickly growing International organization.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an HR generalist, within a global setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining appropriate attention to detail and standards
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills and the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups including senior management
  • Forward-thinking and analytical with business understanding and influencing skills
  • Self-driven, structured and detail oriented
  • Track record of developing value-added, pragmatic solutions that are aligned with the overall company strategy
  • Ability to travel across the country
