Job Purpose:

 

The purposes of the job is to Plan, direct and supervise all Production activities (Making & Finishing) & Services (AM / PM) to meet the production schedules with optimum utilization of resources, ensuring product quality, EOHS norms, equipment upkeep, while keeping costs and wastage at the lowest possible levels.

 

Job Context:

 

The role is responsible for optimally handling production activities (both making and finishing), services like AM / PM and continuous improvement of people and processes in the shift. Plan, prioritize, and handle production line maintenance or downtimes to minimize disruptions to manufacturing schedules. The incumbent should be able to demonstrate analytical tools and business data including SAP, Shop Floor data to identify & resolve problems and improve total performance of the function. Anticipates area’s problems—operational, technical, business and workforce—and takes action. Incumbent should have hands-on experience in plant systems like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)/SCADA/SQL Database. Incumbent should be able to provide technical support on automation projects, training of plant personnel on automation systems, system fixing and maintenance, identification and communication of standard methodologies, and support in developing solutions to system utilization issues. 

 

Incumbent would be responsible for (but not limited to) maintaining positive employee relations, daily production schedule adherence and driving adherence to the standards and expectations laid down under EOHS, Quality and FP&R in all operations and processes in the area. Incumbent is expected to contribute in achieving the plant KPI’s by driving functional KPI’s in his / her domain / area of influence by focusing on customer service, area’s financial performance, Quality, Micro, EOHS, people and team development. 

 

Interface with other functions such as Quality, Commercial, Logistics & Planning, HR etc. to drive process efficiencies. Understand the current and future technological needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities in close coordination with Plant Systems Manager/Integrator. Develops and implements appropriate Cost reduction and productivity, energy savings, Waste reduction/elimination improvement programs.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Deliver Volumes, Operational KPI’s 

Schedule manufacturing activities efficiently, Effective equipment maintenance, Training of Resources, Skill Development, identify and create required flexibility in Plant operations. Drive FP&R initiatives.

 

EOHS & Quality Performance Improvement

Ensures a good understanding of expectations among the team through training Identifies gaps and develops action plan. Allocates resources & monitors progress Work with the EOHS & Quality leads

 

Funding Growth
Identifies opportunities, prioritizing and planning implementation, allocates resources, reviews and monitors to deliver targets.

 

People Management

Applying the PMS process for Associates, PM&D, coaching and feedback, Identify skills gaps and develop the skill sets of the Operations Team. Develop & maintain congenial work environment.

 

Cost Reduction

Identify, recommend and implement a manufacturing cost reduction program, complete new technology in the area.

 

Data Reporting / Plant Systems

 

  • OPERA/SFR (line performance / changeover and downtime reporting), SAP (Production reporting) data integrity.
  • Should be well versed with the plant systems like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)/SCADA/SQL Database.
  • Should be able to provide technical support on automation projects, training of plant personnel on automation systems, system fixing and maintenance of plant systems.

 

Communication

Coaching & Feedback, Counseling, Plant DBS and PPR & OE Meetings

 

Experience:

Should have exposure of 5 - 10 years in managing production & process improvement activities in a Medium/large manufacturing setup of similar segment (e.g. Consumer Goods, Pharma, and Foods etc.)

 

Desired experience & skills: 

 

Understanding and experience in Industrial Automation using Rockwell / Siemens PLC’s or equivalent. Basic understanding and knowledge of - Industrial Network Communication protocols (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus),  Wonderware Industrial Automation software (SCADA (InTouch), Historian, Archestra) or an equivalent software required Ability to configure and test plant systems, good understanding & knowledge of plant floor equipments, automation and instrumentation.

 

Qualification:

 B. Tech in Electrical / Electronics & Comm./ Automation & Robotics/ Mechatronics/ Industrial  Engineering
