Senior Associate Director, Learning Experiences
Description
The incumbent plays a key role in enhancing learning experiences for the suite of MBA programs at ISB through the design of effective pedagogies, innovative strategies for student engagement and learning, and providing support for engaging learning content. The incumbent will also be responsible for advancing the effective use of experiential and case-based teaching methods and other innovative learning experiences that bridge the gap between theory and practice, and foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Consulting for curriculum design (30%)
Partner with faculty to identify learning objectives and translate them into effective learning activities.
Advise on instructional design principles, active learning strategies, and teaching practices.
Support faculty on the design and development of new course formats, including experiential and immersive courses.
Develop multimedia resources (videos, simulations, interactive modules) to enhance the learning experience in existing courses.
Pedagogical Leadership for experiential learning and case teaching (25%)
Conduct research on best practices in pedagogies, disseminating findings throughout the institution. Research, evaluate, and recommend new learning pedagogies.
Drive the design of innovative classroom-based pedagogies for different course formats, including cased-based method and experiential learning; Support faculty on the effective implementation of these pedagogies.
Stay up to date on the latest research in learning science.
Design formative and summative assessments that are suited for the new pedagogies.
Analyze learning data to identify areas for improvement in course design and technology utilization.
Workshops and Faculty Initiatives (25%)
Deliver faculty development initiatives with internal and/or external partners; identify internal and external knowledge experts for such engagements.
Create a calendar of activities for faculty development and support.
Design and lead faculty development programs, workshops, and resources for different learning formats (e.g., capstone simulations, project-based learning, live cases).
Foster a collaborative learning community among faculty to share experiences and promote the adoption of these pedagogies.
Partner with different functional areas in the school to identify opportunities to embed experiential and case-based learning into existing and new courses.
Develop frameworks and assessment tools for evaluating the effectiveness of experiential learning initiatives.
Projects and Media (20%)
Oversee the development and/ or sourcing of high-quality teaching resources that can be accessed by faculty across different areas.
Establish a repository and management system for case studies and related teaching materials.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience designing high-quality learning experiences.
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, Gagne's Nine Events, etc.).
Strong understanding of adult learning principles and pedagogical best practices.
Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and multimedia production software.
Desired Skills:
Experience in higher education settings.
Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
