Position Overview:

The Senior sourcing engineer with good experience in vendor development, focusing on Marmon holdings India sourcing and vendor development activities. We are looking for an experienced Sourcing -Vendor Development engineer (Experience in Nodular iron/ Gray Iron Small/Heavy Castings, and precision machined components) to help establish an Indian/Global supplier base. The work assignment anticipated to be exclusively for Transportation products group companies sourcing initiative. The individual will collaborate with Transportation Group companies sourcing managers and this position will be hired under Marmon GIC at Bangalore

Key Responsibilities / Functions:


· The Vendor development Engineer is accountable for building and developing a strong and reputable supplier base in India/Global for both low and high-volume parts/assemblies. This will be a “hands on” position requiring the candidate to perform all aspects of sourcing, part development, qualification, and management.

· Work with Engineering / R&D to assist, research and communicate in the development of supply requirements of new parts and materials.

· New vendors Evaluation and Vendor management: evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, reliability, availability, production and distribution capabilities, transportation costs, and performance history.

· Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity and fulfillment ensuring suppliers are able to meet requirements for performance, quality, cost and delivery of components and requirements for IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and other applicable customer and internal system and reputation requirements.

· Drive improvement utilizing lean methodologies, ensuring supplier compliance, driving systematic problem solving and process improvements plan to deliver value

· Specify, develop, and validate advanced technology, quality information and test equipment

· Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and the supply chain with regard to product development and procurement of parts

· Responsible for leading the solution for supplier component concerns, driving Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP),supplier interaction, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) support, supplier component development and approval and supplier cost improvements

· Conduct supplier development by managing metrics, communicating performance standards, and active feedback with suppliers and reporting of performance metrics internally.

· Ensure that all corporate and company compliance requirements and policies are followed, together with local legislation. Ensure that necessary controls are in place and utilized.

· The position requires both domestic and international travel, though mainly domestic.

· Other activities as determined to support the sourcing and business development efforts.

Required Qualifications:

· Mechanical/Production Engineer with min 3-5 years of experience in Vendor development, Supplier Quality and Sourcing

· Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings

· Good experience of Cat irons casting and Precision machined manufacturing process. Experience in powder coating and heat treatment process will be an added advantage.

· Good knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)

· Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification.

· Skilled in supplier operational and relationship management.

· Willingness and capability to conduct all aspects of supplier identification, qualification, and management.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
