Cairn Oil & Gas is the largest private oil and gas exploration and production company in India, accounting for more than a quarter of India’s domestic crude production. We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Development Geologists to join our Sub-surface group. This role is pivotal in driving our reservoir characterization and modeling projects, Field Development planning and drilling activities. The incumbent will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team comprising Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Develop detailed geological maps and cross-sections by integrating well and seismic data to provide a comprehensive subsurface understanding.
  • Conduct in-depth reservoir characterization studies and generate 3D static geomodels through the integration of geophysical, geological, petrophysical, and dynamic reservoir data.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing models, develop and maintain workflows, perform volumetric calculations, and calibrate models to dynamic data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Contribute to the preparation of field development plans, providing geological insights and recommendations.
  • Provide input to the identification, justification and review of drilling opportunities
  • Collaborate with reservoir and drilling engineers to mature well locations to a drill-ready status, ensuring all geological considerations are addressed.
  • Provide support during well operations, including well planning, preparation of geological prognoses, well placement, monitoring, and geo-steering to optimize drilling outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Geophysics, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering and integration of this knowledge.
  • Provide support to the well and reservoir management plans and contribute to the optimization of field performance.
  • Prepare, present and justify technical proposals to management, joint venture partners, and regulatory boards.
  • Proficiency in handling industry-standard software.



Qualification & Experience:


  • Education: A Master’s degree in Geology.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Petrel is essential. Knowledge of other modeling software is advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
