Vedanta, a future-focused and growth-oriented company is a fully integrated producer of Oil & Gas, Zinc - Lead - Silver, Aluminium, Power, Iron Ore & Steel, Copper, Nickel, Cobalt, Ferrochrome and Manganese, with a fast-growing metal recycling capacity, and a broad range of critical minerals. We are a dominant player in power generation, transmission, renewable energy solutions, optical fiber, display glass and soon semiconductors. With our world class, low-cost and long-life assets, Vedanta contributes 1.4% towards India’s GDP.

Cairn Oil & Gas is the largest private oil and gas exploration and production company in India, accounting for more than a quarter of India’s domestic crude production. At Cairn, we are committed to playing a lead role in strengthening energy security for country and geared up towards contributing half of India’s oil and gas production.

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Petrophysicists to join our Sub-surface group to design, plan and conduct integrated formation evaluation and reservoir characterization as part of our field development activities. The incumbent will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team comprising Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Scope, plan, and execute extensive formation evaluation and reservoir characterization for development activities and studies.
  • Conduct formation evaluation in diverse reservoirs including thin-bedded turbidites, Tight Oil, fractured basement, and fluvial reservoirs. Working knowledge of the processing, interpretation, and integration of advance logs (image, NMR, & sonic) for formation evaluation.
  • Design and implement log data acquisition programs, encompassing cores, logs, and formation tests for formation evaluation and well and reservoir monitoring.
  • Identify and apply the appropriate approach to develop petrophysical models for single or multi-well study to provide robust inputs for subsurface studies.
  • Calibrate core data, perform Permeability & Saturation modeling, flow-unit analysis, Rock typing, and determine cut-off values for Reservoir/pay thickness calculations.
  • Quantify and characterize reservoir properties including uncertainties for Development fields.
  • Prepare and oversee Routine Core Analysis (RCA) and Special Core Analysis (SCAL) programs, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Interpret cased hole logs, including well integrity, behind casing opportunity, cased hole saturation, and production logs.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Geophysics, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering and integration of this knowledge.
  • Provide petrophysical input and support in reservoir description, rock mechanical analysis and seismic rock property studies.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of vendor tools and different data acquisition practices.
  • Participate in the real time well operation support and selection of the acquisition of formation pressure points, fluid samples and intervals to be perforated, tested and completed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide petrophysical inputs for constructing static and dynamic models.
  • Develop training programs, share industry best practices, and mentor junior geoscientists.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Education: A Master’s degree in Geology/ Geophysics or relevant discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in formation evaluation in development wells, reservoir characterization, well log data acquisition planning, providing petrophysical inputs for static modeling and field development planning.
