Methoding Pattern Tooling Specialist

As a Methods and Pattern Specialist, you will optimise the work of Product Development, Manufacturing and Outsourcing functions for pattern tooling and casting methods requirements to enable quality-compliant castings. You will be responsible for providing optimum methoding information utilising Magmasoft simulation software.

With your collaborative work style, you will advise the key stakeholders on the pattern tooling for new and altered products. You will support product development and manufacturing with initial concept/design reviews, design for manufacture and review of the first article.

Responsibilities will include requirements for foundries located in Australasia and Canada and those locations where outsourced products are supplied.

As a process-oriented person, you will comply with the requirements of the advanced product quality process (APQP). You will monitor upcoming product changes and new product introductions to ensure suitable planning for method/pattern development. You will identify the scope for process improvement in the foundry method /tool design in terms of cost, productivity and delivery.

You will foster a work culture that encourages open communication, liaise with other methods and technical personnel to assist in the establishment of a fully competent and collaborative centralised method/pattern tooling function within the business


Key Technical Criteria:

  • Formal methods or pattern-making qualification
  • Understanding and experience in Solid Cast/MAGMASOFT/Novacast
  • Experience in Foundry Methods
  • Experience in Pattern Tooling design.
