ROLE PROFILE

The R&D Facility Manager will actively participate as a member of a dynamic research team focused on the design, delivery and control of core processes and associated equipment throughout the development and industrialisation of current and future generations battery materials. Under the guidance of the Global Head of R&D, with support from the R&D Leadership Team and working alongside other laboratory personnel, they will be responsible for ensuring equipment, services and utilities availability that will enable on-going scientific research projects in the Agratas laboratories in Bangaluru. This is a senior level position, and responsibilities will focus on the management of laboratory resources, oversight of laboratory quality standards and procedures, and planning for future projects as well as resolution of execution issued on a day-to-day basis whilst minimising process disturbance.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning: Coordination of the preparation of the commissioning plans
  • Layout & Design Concepts: Steer layouts and concept designs that enable the buildings team to approve construction
  • Vendor Suitability: Identify vendor suitability for process equipment and associated services/utilities needs through a detailed NDA/RFQ structure (in conjunction with the Procurement Team)
  • Team management: Responsible for the overall Commissioning team and to oversee the recruitment, mobilisation, training and supervision of personnel
  • Safe & Timely Execution: Responsible for the safe and timely execution of all Commissioning activities and integration of these activities with both Project and Operations to include equipment availability (PM's/TPM), spares and maintenance strategies
  • Interface management: Responsible for managing interfaces with Construction and Commissioning Managers and their respective teams
  • Engineering Coordination: Coordination with Engineering to ensure that Commissioning and deliverables are met
  • Documentation Management: Responsible to ensure that all documentation relevant to the Commissioning phase is received by the Project. This includes, but not limited to O&M manuals, Training materials, Engineering databases for O&M systems upload, spares lists and spares
  • Vendor Coordination: Responsible for the coordination of vendor representatives required during Commissioning
  • Materials & Resource Management: Responsible for the development and communication of the requirements and timing for materials, resources and external services for Commissioning
  • Laboratory Cleaning Plan: Responsible for the development and execution and process controls of the laboratory cleaning plan
  • Progress Updates: Leads daily and weekly progress review meetings
  • Liaison with Statutory Authorities: Liaises with Statutory Authorities on matters associated with plant start-up

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Dry Rooms & Clean Laboratory Environments: Must have experience of delivering dry rooms and clean laboratory environments and associated fit outs
  • Compliance and Regulations: Compliance and regulations knowledge and experience with COSHH/DSEAR/ATEX installations and associated HS&E procedures
  • Project Management: Must exhibit a strong track record of completion and success in delivery of commissioning and projects
  • ISO & UKAS Standards: Must understand ISO, UKAS, audit procedures and methods
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Analytical Thinking: Clear thinker, able to divide a job into small logical steps
  • Procedures & Workflows: Extensive experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of project
  • Completions Management Systems: Experience in the use of Completions Management Systems (databases)
  • Project Discipline Systems: Functional knowledge of all project discipline systems, design and reporting processes.

Role Specific Qualifications/Certifications

This role is ideal for an experienced facility manager with a strong background in laboratory operations, proven leadership skills, and a deep understanding of compliance and safety regulations. Candidate should have a degrree in Engineering or a related scientific disciplione.
