Job Title: Data Platform Lead


Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India


About the role


As Azure Data Platform Lead, you'll design and implement global data solutions on Azure, lead the data platform team, collaborate with leadership, and ensure our data infrastructure supports business goals. You'll also drive the adoption of new features, standardize the Azure tech stack, and implement best practices.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic leadership:

Develop and execute the data platform strategy in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives

Provide thought leadership on data engineering and visualization best practices, technologies, and industry trends

Collaborate with senior executives to identify and prioritize data initiatives that drive business value.


Team management:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers and Power BI developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment

Define clear objectives and deliverables for team members, ensuring alignment with project goals and company strategy


Data solutions design and implementation:

Architect and develop scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database and other Azure services

Design and implement data models, data warehouses, and data lakes on Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure SQL Data Warehouse

Design and implement interactive dashboards, reports, and data models using Power BI including advanced features


Collaboration and stakeholder management:

Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements

Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions with existing systems and applications


Performance optimisation:

Optimise data processing workflows and Power BI dashboards for performance and cost-efficiency

Guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data pipelines, data quality and system performance


Best practices and governance:

Establish and enforce best practices for data engineering/visualisation including data governance, security, and compliance

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance data capabilities

Implementing data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and auditing, to protect sensitive information


Innovation and improvement:

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation in data engineering practices

Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies that enhance the organisation’s data capabilities



Who are we looking for?


Education:


BE / B-Tech in Computer Science from a premier institute

MBA is preferred

Azure Cloud Data Engineering and Power BI certifications



Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Azure data engineering and Power BI, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role
  • Extensive experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database and Power BI
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Server
  • Experience with data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and integrating Power BI with various data sources
  • Proven track record of leading data engineering/visualisation teams and delivering large-scale data projects
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and ETL processes
  • Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
