Engineering Manager - MERN Stack (Full-Time)

We are seeking a driven and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of software developers, QA engineers, and other engineering professionals. You will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our engineering efforts by fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, mentoring team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.


Responsibilities:


  • Own the product roadmap and tech stack, shaping the future of our product.
  • Leverage your deep technical expertise to design and build complex, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Lead a talented engineering team, fostering a culture of mentorship and collaboration.
  • Get hands-on with coding when needed – this is a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.
  • Be a core member of the leadership team, helping us scale a product that's already found product-market fit.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team, setting clear goals, priorities, and roadmaps.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and development of team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship to software developers, QA engineers, and other engineering team members.
  • Manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the effective use of Agile methodologies and best practices for project management.
  • Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions on time and within budget.
  • Champion the use of the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) and ensure the team adheres to best practices for these technologies.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in the MERN stack and lead the team in adopting new solutions when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product, design, and marketing to ensure seamless product development and delivery.
  • Track and report on key engineering metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages open communication and collaboration.


Qualifications:


  • Have 10-15 years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • Have experience building high-growth startups (a plus).
  • Champion radical transparency to build trust and respect within the team.
  • Enjoy collaborating, experimenting, and learning in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of software developers, QA engineers, and other engineering professionals.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and best practices for software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Passion for building high-quality software products.
