Job Summary:

The Head of Sales will be responsible for overseeing and managing the sales department in Chennai, driving sales performance to meet quotas, building and developing a productive sales team, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors. The role involves strategic planning, team management, and ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales Performance:

  • Achieve sales quotas set by management.
  • Formulate, plan, and execute the Target Accounts List, monitoring its progress.


Team Management and Development:

  • Ensure sales personnel are knowledgeable and well-versed in their respective fields.
  • Build a productive sales team to boost sales performance and achieve targets.
  • Provide ongoing training and development for sales staff to enhance their skills and uphold the company's image.
  • Assist sales personnel with challenges such as debtor’s collection and handling problematic customers.


Sales Administration:

  • Ensure proper administration and management of the overall sales department.
  • Develop new business opportunities and maintain close relationships with existing customers.
  • Vendor and Customer Relations:
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with carriers, co-loaders, and other vendors to secure the best rates and services.
  • Follow up with overseas agents regarding rate inquiries and shipment arrangements.
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints and specific requirements promptly and effectively.


Support and Collaboration:

  • Assist the District Manager (DM) as required, providing support in various capacities.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure cohesive operations and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in sales management within the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and develop high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate and execute effective sales plans.
  • Proficient in handling customer complaints and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Strong network and relationships within the logistics industry, including carriers, co-loaders, and vendors.
