Plant General Manager

Our client is one of the large corrugated boxes manufacturer based in Assam, India. Presently, they seek to hire General Manager (GM) for their plants in Guwahati and Siliguri. Reporting to the owners, the position will manage all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing and also will be responsible for safety, quality, and productivity.


Key Responsibilities of the role are:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the entire manufacturing process of the corrugated box plant.
  • Ensure efficient and effective plant operations to meet production targets.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives.

Production Planning:

  • Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer orders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor production metrics and performance.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure high standards of product quality are maintained.
  • Develop and enforce quality control processes and procedures.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure the plant operates in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and implement safety training programs.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the plant's budget.
  • Monitor and control costs to ensure profitability.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of production, maintenance, quality control, and administrative staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
  • Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste.

Customer Relations:

  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address customer needs.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting quality and delivery expectations.
  • Handle any customer complaints or issues related to production.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of the company’s strategic goals.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development within the plant.
  • Implement strategies to achieve long-term business objectives.


Candidate Profile

  • Ideal candidate should have a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ yrs of experience corrugated box manufacturing industry environment is a must.
  • Hands-on leader.
