Purpose and Scope:
The Head of Global Capability Centre (GCC) will lead and manage the operations of the GCC, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. This role involves overseeing the hybrid model, which combines in-house GBS and its outsourced operations as well as hosted functions to maximize efficiency, innovation, and cost-effectiveness. Head of GCC plays crucial role in transition of the roles from other locations.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
In the initial build phase, the focus will be on implementing site governance to bring all site functions and domains together and align on the following:
- site level priorities / actions, including establishment of local leadership team
- compliance with all local and global regulations and laws
- executing transitions from the receiving side perspective as per methodology
- employee value proposition specific to India GCC and actions to drive employee engagement from day 1
- stakeholder engagement and relationships
- local site policies, benefits & ways of working
[Key Responsibilities]
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for the GCC in alignment with the organization’s overall objectives.
- Drive the transformation of the GCC from a cost-arbitrage centre to a hub of innovation and excellence.
- Drive collaboration and expansion of the site and its functions by working closely with global, regional and country stakeholders and domain sponsors.
- Chair local leadership meetings and actions
- Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with organizational standards for all hosted functions
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Talent Management:
- Collaborate with HR, TA and Functions to create strategies talent acquisition, development, and retention to build a high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented culture underpinned by learning & development, employee empowerment, and sustainable (ESG) work environment.
- Drive employee engagement and Astellas culture and position the site as a central hub to attract and retain top talent.
Financial Oversight:
- Manage the GCC budget, ensuring cost efficiency and financial sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Drive demand management for the location and provide input to the functional budget.
- Ensure proper charging and compliance with the agreed transfer pricing model.
Technology Integration:
- Leverage advanced technologies such as AI, automation, and data analytics to drive business transformation together with site leadership team.
- Promote seamless integration of technology solutions across the GCC with close collaboration with DigitalX.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, especially with leaders of hosted functions, including internal teams, external partners, and clients.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership to provide updates on GCC performance and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure harmonized ways of working and standards across GCC locations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with GCC operations.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale operations in India excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of global business practices.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in setting up and managing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a GCC or similar environment in India. Experience in the Pharma industry and knowledge about legal requirements and local regulations in India.

- Experience with Japanese culture.
Working Environment
This position is based in Bangalore, hybrid model. We assume the position will require on-site work 4 days a week for at least the first year of employment to support the setup of the GCC. After the initial setup phase a change in hybrid working can be discussed with the line manager.
