Vanilla Miel's creations include entremets, tarts, and chocolates, known for their multi-textural and nostalgic flavours.

Building on the success in the world of pastries, Vanilla Miel is launching a new café vertical. This new venture will extend our philosophy of celebrating complexity in simple things to a range of savoury offerings. We aim to create a space where every dish tells a story, and every bite is an experience.


Purpose of the role


As a cafe manager, you play a vital role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where customers can enjoy high-quality food and drinks. Your purpose is to lead and manage a team of staff to deliver exceptional customer service, drive sales growth, and maintain a profitable business. You are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the cafe's operations, from inventory management to marketing and financial management. Your goal is to build a loyal customer base, develop a strong team, and continuously improve processes to ensure the cafe runs smoothly and efficiently. 


Cafe manager responsibilities also include scheduling shifts for baristas and wait staff, monitoring daily expenses and revenues and ordering supplies like coffee, milk and snacks, as needed. To be successful in this role you should have work experience with various roles in coffee shops. Also, you should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.


Ultimately, your role is to make your cafe a hub of the community, help increase profitability, boost customer engagement and where customers feel at home and employees feel valued and supported.


Prerequisites:


  • Work experience as a Cafe Manager & also experience of Barista preferred
  • Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
  • Good math skills
  • Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Customer service attitude
  • High school diploma
  • Additional certification (e.g. in Business Administration or Hospitality) is a plus.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
  • Hire and onboard new wait staff and baristas
  • Leading and managing a team of staff, including baristas, servers, and kitchen staff.
  • Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (like takeaway cups, coffee, milk and other ingredients)
  • Coordinating inventory management, ordering supplies, and controlling costs.
  • Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
  • Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences (for example vegan coffee drinks)
  • Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and hygiene in the cafe.
  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
  • Developing and implementing marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Managing finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and profit and loss responsibility.
