We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a team responsible for managing Apigee, microservices, and large-scale API transactions across AWS and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS Cloud, API management, microservices architecture, and Kubernetes, along with solid knowledge in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and ITIL best practices. This role involves hands-on experience with infrastructure management, incident resolution, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of production systems while promoting operational excellence.

Roles & Responsibilities


1. Team Leadership & Management:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers responsible for the Apigee platform and microservices architecture.

Serve as a manager, mentor, and escalation point for team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Define team goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and track performance against business objectives.

2. API & Microservices Operations:

Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Apigee API Gateway to support millions of daily transactions.

Manage and optimize the microservices architecture to ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.

Ensure API governance, security best practices, and compliance with SLAs.

3. Cloud & On-premise Infrastructure Management:

Manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.

Oversee on-premises services and integration with cloud platforms for hybrid solutions.

Maintain Kubernetes clusters, ensuring efficient resource utilization and high availability.

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for cloud resource management.

4. Technical Knowledge:

Proficient in Apigee Edge Cloud, with strong skills in API Management and Gateway systems.

Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems along with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Routing, Load Balancing).

Solid understanding of web technologies (HTTP, HTML, DNS, TCP) and REST APIs.

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, as well as CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Strong understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.

Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

Good to have knowledge in programming/scripting languages (Java, Python, Go, Shell).

5. SRE & DevOps Implementation:

Implement SRE practices to enhance platform reliability, focusing on monitoring, incident management, and SLAs.

Monitor and ensure the reliability and performance of production systems and services, establishing SLOs and SLIs.

Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and work with development teams on long-term solutions.

Collaborate on the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automating deployment and monitoring processes.

6. ITIL & Incident Management:

Ensure adherence to ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.

Drive timely identification, investigation, resolution, and root cause analysis of technical issues.

Lead incident resolution efforts and improve system reliability through continuous learning.

7. Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:

Provide regular updates to senior leadership on operational status, key metrics, and incident reports.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand current and future platform needs and align operations with strategic goals.

Act as the day-to-day primary point of contact for client escalations, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

8. Documentation & Knowledge Management:

Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to upskill the team.

Develop and maintain automation tools to reduce manual tasks and enhance operational efficiency.

Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, incident responses, and improvements.

Lead efforts to continuously improve processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

9. Capacity Planning & Future Growth:

Assess system capacity and scalability, ensuring optimal resource allocation.

Forecast future growth needs based on traffic patterns and service usage, adjusting infrastructure accordingly.
