The Assistant General Manager - Contracts is a senior-level role within a leading EPC company, responsible for overseeing contract management and claims verification processes. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the role focuses on ensuring the smooth execution of contracts, from drafting and negotiation to compliance and dispute resolution. The position requires extensive experience in managing EPC contracts, claims resolution, and mitigating risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- Manage contracts related to EPC projects, ensuring adherence to terms, conditions, and timelines.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure timely renewal, amendment, or termination where required.
- Collaborate with legal teams to address any contractual disputes or issues.
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
Claims and Dispute Resolution:
- Review and verify claims related to project costs, delays, variations, and other contract terms.
- Lead negotiations for claim settlements with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all claims are well-documented and supported by necessary evidence.
- Resolve contractual disputes, claims, and disagreements effectively and promptly.

- Identify potential contractual risks and devise strategies to mitigate them.

Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
- Engage with vendors and subcontractors for contract execution, variation claims, and resolution of disputes.

RequirementsQualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Law, or Business Management (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in contract management, claim verification, and dispute resolution within the EPC industry.
- Extensive knowledge of contract laws, EPC contracts, FIDIC provisions, and industry-standard practices.
- Strong experience in dealing with large-scale contracts in infrastructure, power, or construction sectors.
- Proven track record in claims management and successful resolution of disputes.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in contract management tools and software.
- Excellent understanding of legal and commercial aspects of contracts.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and dispute resolution capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
