As Model Risk continues to evolve in importance and demand, it is vital that we embed and mature our Framework processes across Deutsche Bank. The Model Risk Governance team requires a professional who can actively contribute to the team in accomplishing this objective by implementing a robust Controls Assurance framework and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will lead improvements in horizontal Risk Type Controller activities across global operating domains, Model Risk policy control assurance, Control Owner assurance, complexity reduction across our controls and maturing Model Risk policy requirements.

As part of the Model Risk Governance team, the competencies of how we mature our Model Risk Framework has been defined as a strategic imperative, and as such, you will be the architect and ambassador who galvanises interest and solicits support for control assurance. 

This pivotal role requires strong influencing and consensus building skills with upward management (Group Management Risk Council), Validation stakeholders, and lateral risk functions (Non-Financial Risk, Divisional Control Officers, and Enterprise Risk Management).

Your key responsibilities

Understand the Model Risk Profile; the inherent risks, the controls required to mitigate and reduce the risks and the residual risks. Manage and maintain the Model Risk Policy Controls Inventory. Develop a clear assurance process that is agreed, documented, and well understood.  Create a roadmap showing how things should progress from the current situation to the expected results.  Design quarterly assurance plans which will identify and conduct sample-based design and operational effectiveness testing of designated Policy controls. As good communication is essential to any collaboration, it requires setting clear expectations with stakeholders, scoping of test activities, and acting as a trusted partner (and not as an auditor).  Work with the wider Model Risk team to design and implement a Model Risk Policy training and awareness campaign of which a large component will be Model Risk Controls and assurance. Develop on-going monitoring processes that allow a continuous appraisal of the Policy control environment, detection of vulnerabilities, and that assurance feedback becomes an on-going process rather than just a one-off step. Establish trust-based relationships with stakeholders and build consensus of solutions. Work effectively with diverse teams to come up with the best solution and move people and organizations to act. Use Agile approaches to define value and stakeholder needs, leverage JIRA EPICs to identify quarterly goals, use JIRA boards for accelerated delivery of Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), and create backlog items for future prioritization.

Your skills and experience

Candidate should possess:

8 + years Financial Services industry experience. 5+ years of experience in Model Risk and or Control Assurance. Ability to understand complex front to back processes while looking for ways to reduce inefficiencies. Able to build relationships with global Business Stakeholders remotely. Attention to detail and able to quickly assimilate complexity. Ability Communicate effectively with all audiences in a structured manner. Positive “solution based” work ethic. Team player and be able to work collaboratively towards commons goals. Good leadership and influencing skills. Technology skills (Windows apps, Jira, SP, Confluence, Process Mapping applications).
