Purpose of Role:

The Cyclone Technology Group will be a new group formed under the Minerals Division with a focussed attention on product development and contributing towards the business priority in the Cyclone market segment. The role demands the candidate to be proficient in the fundamentals of Machine Design and concept development for the product enhancement, preferable Cyclones.

Key Responsibilities:
· Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Experience in composite tooling design and fabrication. 

Extracting mould design from 3D model, inspection of moulds and knowledge on mould manufacturing process. 

Responsible to designing mould and creating 3D CAD Model and 2d Engineering Drawings.

Experienced in working with customers on detailed CAD files and explaining the trouble areas on the files and offering solutions.

Prepare mould specification and checklist.

Review all detailed drawings for proper dimensioning and stack up tolerances.

Knowledge on product/part inspection as per drawings. 

Collaborate with team members positively and with respect.

Make use of and develop smart CAD tools in order to improve design lead times and improve efficiency and quality.

Knowledge in sequence of operations for casting and machining process. 

Use NX to an advanced level (Advanced modelling techniques including sweeps, part families, expressions etc)

Responsibly executing all project data within the PLM system (Teamcenter).

Protect Intellectual Property (IP) in accordance with Weir Minerals Division requirements.

Perform design work in accordance with the relevant national and international design standards where required.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field and 6 to 10 years relevant work experience required in mechanical machine design in the areas of: mining, construction or separation equipment or heavy industry is required.

High level of competency to include but not limited to, the use of the following engineering tools: NX, AutoCAD, Siemens GPDM/Teamcenter,

Independent project execution experience is required. 

The engineer should have good machine Design experience and knowledge to design mineral processing equipment with good competency and design intent. Hands on experience on design calculations from first principles to analyze the product performance. Hydrocylone industry will be an added advantage. Hands-on Mould/pattern designing experienced is must.

Good knowledge and experience in welding and machining process is a must.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Familiarity with good manufacturing and assembly processes for Separation Equipment is required. Must have good commonsense based mechanical aptitude, with documented hands on experience throughout their working career.

Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as computer and job related software (Microsoft Office & Lotus Notes), NX, Siemens GPDM/Teamcenter, Visio, scientific calculator, telephone, fax photocopier, etc.
