  • Performsroutine testing on all samples in the Analytical Serviceslaboratory providing analytical data for process control qualitycontrol process development product development and wastemanagement.
  • Thelaboratory operates 24 x 7.
  • The shift and days off for the applicant have not beendetermined.
  • Allapplicants for this position should be open to working any of thethree lab shifts and any days of the week including overnights andweekends.
  • Performsroutine analytical testing on teams that work a variety of shiftsthat include working weekends and holidays.
  • Requests additional work toincrease team productivity.
  • Prepares and analyses numerous types of samples by avariety of physical and chemical analytical techniques usingsophisticated analytical equipment.
  • The instrumentation includes pH metersdensitometers dissolved oxygen meters conductivity meterscalorimeters viscometers rheometers spectrophotometersautotitrators ion chromatographs (IC) inductively coupled plasmaspectrometers (ICP) laser particle size analysers gaschromatographs (GC) High Pressure Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC)titrators densitometers autoclaves pipettors platers incubators andovens.
  • Performsvarious microbiological tests including tests to determine sporecounts and microbiological contamination.
  • Understands and operates STARLiMS LaboratoryInformation Management System (LIMS) Waters Empower laboratory dataacquisition system and other instrumentspecific computer systems.
  • Searches variousdatabases for test methods specifications and standards to locateinformation required to complete analyses.
  • Promptly and accurately records calculatesand reports analytical results.
  • Maintains appropriate records to meet internalrequirements as well as ISOand 18001.
  • Completes various daily instrumentcalibrations and inspections. Observes good safety and housekeepingpractices.
  • May serveas Safety Officer for the shift.
  • Maintains laboratory supplies preparessolutions cleans glassware disposes of solid/liquid waste and otherduties to help in the overall operations of the laboratory.
  • Trains others onwaste management.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Reviews analytical data andvarious LIMS reports.
  • Communicates and discusses any issues with other teammembers and supervision. Participates on continuous improvementsubteams.
  • Knowledgeable of RCRA hazardous waste regulations wastedeterminations waste codes and how to immediately communicatediscovery of spills and leaks.
  • Also must know labeling inspection and recordkeepingrequirements to accumulate waste in: satellite accumulation areasless than 90day containers and less than 90day tanks. Initial RCRAhazardous waste training shall be completed within 6 months ofstarting job and refresher training shall occur annuallythereafter.
  • Thisexperience should include doing chemical analyses.
  • Good oral and writtencommunication skills.
  • High attention to details and an ability to analyseoutcomes against a standard.
  • Ability to diagnose the typical instrument problems withlittle or no assistance and provide assistance to others.
  • Ability to multitaskand prioritize workload to optimize efficiency and productivity ofthe laboratory.
