We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Fund/Client Accounting Manager I to join our Alternative Operations - Private Equity team. This role is located in Pune, MH - HYBRID role.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Works with external clients to resolve the most complex day-to-day issues and direct them to appropriate resources at BNY Mellon.
- Leads team members in providing support to major clients in addressing and resolving complex operational and technical issues and ensuring requests are executed.
- Applies advanced problem solving skills, judgement, and experience to analyze information.
- Uses developed communication skills to deliver high quality service to a specialized client base.
- Provides key individuals at assigned clients information related to BNY Mellons products and services representing a broad array of lines of business and geographies and leverages an in-depth understanding of broader BNY Mellon services and offerings.
- Proactively assists clients in reviewing potential business needs and directs them to appropriate resources at BNY Mellon.
- Resolves the most complex or non-routine client issues or inquires, as needed.
- Uses in-depth knowledge of client issues and needs to contribute to business development efforts.
- Uses broad understanding of BNY Mellon products and services to best propose expanded offerings to clients for front office consideration.
- Leads and participates in internal activities and initiatives designed to improve the client experience.
- Uses knowledge of client services best practices and BNY Mellon client needs to help develop process improvements.
- No direct reports.
- Provides guidance to less experienced team members.
- Supports multiple, complex client accounts
- Reconciliation – All the transactions in the bank/broker statement will be recorded in the
accounting systems (Geneva / Investran), Cash/Position is to be reconciled between the
custody/broker accounts and accounting records. Incase of any discrepancy, it must be
investigated thoroughly and properly commented on the reconciliation platforms (TLM/ GRX /
Excel) until it has been cleared.
• Capital activity processing:
o Capital Commitment – Commitment is the total amount of money an investor agrees
initially to invest in the fund.
o Capital Call – when the fund needs money for making an investment or to pay expenses,
they will issue capital call notices to each investor who has committed to the fund.
o Distribution – When the fund has the money such as (income distribution – interest from
investments & capital distribution – income when investment is sold) they distribute the
money back to investors which is called as distribution.
• Valuations – Based on the underlying investment valuations (PCAP – Partners Capital) or Market value of the investment provided by client/third parties – the unrealized value of the investment must be recorded in the accounting platform and verify the values of the investment between accounting books and client values/PCAPs.
• Income and Expense accruals – To justify all the income and expenses of a fund. The expense
accruals of the fund per quarter/year will be provided by the client. Income accruals will be
calculated/recorded by the system/manual. The process of accrual is to have an impact in the fund reporting period rather than having significant impact at once and to record the impact on the same quarter/month that the services were rendered.
• NAV Reporting – The package will consist of various reports on all the above activities including the Management fee and Carried Interest/Performance fee calculated and we will be delivering to the client as a package.
• NAV Allocations – Allocation of Profit and Loss of the period to each Partner/Investor, which will show the actual ending capital balance at investor level.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 9-12 years of total work experience and at least 2-3 years in management preferred.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
