Job Summary



A Scrum Master plays a crucial role in enabling Agile teams to deliver value to customers efficiently. By fostering collaboration, removing impediments, and promoting continuous improvement, you help the team achieve their goals and deliver high-quality products

As a Scrum Master, you serve as a facilitator, coach, and servant leader for Agile teams, ensuring that they adhere to the Scrum framework and principles to deliver high-quality products efficiently. Responsibilities

1.      Scrum Facilitation: Facilitate Scrum events (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives) and ensure that they are effective and productive.

2.      Team Coach: Coach the Agile team on Scrum practices, principles, and values. Help the team understand and embrace Agile methodologies.

3.      Servant Leadership: Serve the team by removing impediments, shielding them from external distractions, and facilitating collaboration.

4.      Process Enforcement: Ensure that the team follows Scrum practices, roles, and artifacts. Help the team understand and adhere to Agile principles.

5.      Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication and collaboration between the team and stakeholders. Ensure transparency and visibility into the team's progress.

6.      Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve conflicts within the team. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

7.      Continuous Improvement: Encourage the team to reflect on their processes and practices and identify opportunities for improvement. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.

8.      Metrics and Reporting: Track and report on key Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts) to monitor team performance and progress.

9.      Scrum Master Responsibilities Outside the Team: Collaborate with other Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination across Agile teams.

10.   Scrum Master as a Change Agent: Advocate for Agile values and principles within the organisation. Drive cultural and process changes to support Agile adoption.

 

Skills and Qualifications

-        Strong Understanding of Agile Principles: Thorough understanding of Agile principles and the Scrum framework.

-        Facilitation Skills: Excellent facilitation skills to lead Scrum events effectively and foster collaboration within the team.

-        Servant Leadership: Ability to serve the team by removing impediments and enabling self-organisation.

-        Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts.

-        Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address issues and impediments that hinder the team's progress.

-        Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Empathy and emotional intelligence to understand team dynamics and foster a positive team culture.

-        Continuous Learning: Willingness to continuously learn and improve as a Scrum Master and Agile practitioner.

-        Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and navigate complex team dynamics.

-        Tooling – Jira/Confluence

 

Experience

-        Professional Experience: Extensive experience working as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile role.

-        Certifications: While not always required, certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) can be beneficial.

 

Educational Background

-        A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related field is often preferred but not always required.
