Position overview

allnex invites you to join our dynamic R&D team as a Synthesis Chemist in Mumbai, India where you will drive cutting-edge research and development in the field of chemical synthesis. In this pivotal role, you'll leverage your expertise to design and synthesize new molecules that can transform industries and improve our products. You will be one of the key person to conduct thorough literature reviews and apply theoretical knowledge to practical lab work, ensuring high-quality results as well as working closely with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers, providing technical guidance in synthetic chemistry.

Responsibilities
  • Design and synthesize novel compounds using advanced techniques to support various research and development projects.
  • Develop and optimize synthesis protocols for scalability and efficiency, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with industry standards.
  • Generate ideas for new products.
  • Develop products in addressing customers' problems.
  • Plan and execute diverse initiatives.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings to identify projects for development.
  • Conduct literature search on the web/Library to uncover potential new routes/products.
  • Design and develop resins from bench to pilot/manufacturing scale.
  • Keeping up with current market products.
  • Interact with vendors/supply chain to identify and purchase raw materials and instruments for development projects.
  • Create and implement a positive work culture in order to satisfy ISO quality objectives and provide safe working conditions.
  • Support the supply chain by locating alternate RM suppliers to ensure seamless manufacturing.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and processes, and present findings to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.
  • Write technical articles, patent new technology, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers.
Required skills and experience
  • 5 - 8 years of hands-on experience in chemical synthesis, with an industrial background.
  • Expertise in resin theory, methods, and design, including acrylic polyol, polyester polyol, alkyds, amino, and SB/WB resins.
  • Experience working in a laboratory for formulations, material characterizations, coating application, and benchmarking.
  • Proven track record of successful compound synthesis in a research or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in modern synthetic techniques.
  • Experience with computational tools for molecular modeling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the chemical industries.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex data and solve intricate chemical problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental results.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and continuously learn new techniques and methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field; or a Master’s Degree with extensive relevant experience.
