About the Role:As aDatabase Migration Specialist you will be responsiblefor Designs develops and implements datamigration solutions Migrates data betweendifferent database platforms Cleanses andtransforms data to ensure accuracy andconsistency Validates migrated data andworks with stakeholders to resolve issuesKey Responsibilities:Design and develop database solutions that meet businessrequirements. This is typicallytheresponsibility of a database developer.Create and maintain SQL scripts and stored procedures for datamanipulation andretrieval. This is typicallythe responsibility of a databaseadministrator. Optimize database performancethrough query tuning indexing andothertechniques. This is typically theresponsibility of a database performanceengineer. Design and implement datamigration plans and strategies. This includes assessingthesource and target databases identifyingthe data that needs to be migratedanddeveloping a plan to migrate the data ina safe and efficient manner. Use ETL toolsand techniques to migrate data between different databaseplatforms. Thismay involve using thirdpartyETL tools or developing custom ETLsolutions. Cleanse and transform data toensure its accuracy and consistency before itismigrated. This may involve removingduplicate data correcting errors andconvertingdata to the appropriate format forthe target database. Test and validate migrated data to ensure data integrity. This mayinvolve runningqueries against the migrateddata to compare it to the source data and identifyinganydiscrepancies.Work with stakeholders to identify and resolve data migrationissues. This may involveworking withbusiness analysts developers and testers to understand thebusinessrequirements and ensure that thedata migration is successful. Document datamigration processes and procedures. This includescreatingdocumentation that describes thesteps involved in the data migration process thetoolsand techniques used and the testsperformed to validate the migrated data.Developing and maintaining data migration infrastructure. This mayinvolve setting upand configuring serversdatabase software and ETL tools. Automatingdata migration tasks. This may involve using scripting languagesordeveloping custom automationtools. Monitoring data migration performanceand troubleshooting issues. This mayinvolveusing monitoring tools to identifyand resolve any problems that occur during thedatamigrationprocess. MinimumQualifications: Bachelor s degree ininformation technology/Computer Science or relatedfield. At least 2 years of experience in SQLServer database development. Proficiency inSQL TSQL SSIS and stored proceduredevelopment. Knowing PostgreSQL DB2 MySQLwill be an added advantage. Strongunderstanding of database design principles and databasenormalization. Experience with performancetuning and optimization techniques.Familiarity with database administration tasks such as backup andrecovery security andmaintenanceplans. Excellent communication and teamworkskills. Ability to work independently andtake ownership of tasks. Strongproblemsolving and analyticalskills.
