The role
As a Data Engineer, you will be a part of our Data Engineering Chapter and be responsible for delivering data solutions on engagements with our partners. You will be experienced in cloud data engineering, developing solutions designed for effective data processing and warehousing requirements of large enterprises. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising highly scalable, flexible, secured and resilient AWS data solutions in solving business problems and accelerating the adoption of our client’s data initiatives on the cloud.
What you should expect
Your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding business objectives and delivering quality data centric solutions within committed timeframes
- Designing and building data assets integrating data from internal and external sources
- Execution of large scale migration of on-premise workloads to AWS-EMR
- Building highly scalable, flexible, secure, and resilient enterprise cloud data platform solutions
- Implementing end-to-end data solutions on AWS that align with business objectives and migration requirements
- Promoting industry leading coding standards and practices to ensure high quality and minimum risk
- Collaborating and communicating with business and delivery stakeholders and working without supervision
- Identifying, escalating, and remediating technical debt to support continuous improvement and effective risk management
- Building solutions that are fit for purpose, reliable, scalable, and perform well with large datasets and complex data transformation rules
- Implementing development and release management processes
What you will need to succeed
- Bachelors degree or above qualification in IT, Software Engineering or Computer Science
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience in building enterprise data platforms using AWS data services such as Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), Redshift, Kinesis, Data Exchange, DataSync, RDS, Data Store, Amazon MSK, DMS, Glue, Glue Catalog, Appflow, AWA Zero-ETL, Glue Data Catalog, Athena, Lake Formation, S3, RMS, Data Zone, Lambda, DynamoDB, Amazon MWAA, Kong
- Ideally hold AWS Certified Data Engineer
- Experienced in implementing industry leading data engineering standards and practices with sound understanding of cloud data platform architecture and design
- Solid understanding of Hadoop architecture, including HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Hive, HBase with robust understanding of equivalent components in AWS EMR and other AWS services
- Solid experience building data pipelines and ETL
- Adept in data platforms such as Hadoop, Redshift, Teradata, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Extensive SQL, Spark, Scala, Java, Python, PySpark, and HBase experience
- Experience with Intellij IDEA, AutoSys, GitHub, Jira, Confluence
- Experience delivering large scale data migration from on-prem to cloud
- Experience with containerisation and serverless computing
- Sound understanding of data management, security and privacy practices
- Highly experience in agile methodology, continuous integration, test automation, and issue tracking
- Creative problem solver and advocate for continuous improvement
