As aSenior your typical day wouldneed:

  • The day often starts with checkingemails messages and any projectrelated notifications. The seniordeveloper might plan their day prioritize tasks and review theprogress of ongoingprojects.

  • Review any pending tasks from theprevious day and prioritize themReview the project roadmaptasks and goals for ongoingprojects.

  • Discuss any newrequirements changes or challenges with the projectteam.

  • Coordinate with backenddevelopers frontend developers and other stakeholders to ensure acohesive approach.

  • Review codewritten by junior/intermediate developers for quality security andadherence to bestpractices.

  • Address any bugs issuesor technical debt that may havearisen.

  • Work on developing andcustomizing Python and ReactJS websites and itsfunctionality.

  • Developingnew API endpoints optimizing database queries or implementing newfeatures using Python frameworks like Django orFlask.

  • Communicate with clientsto provide project updates discuss requirements and address anyquestions or concerns.

  • Performthorough testing of newly implemented features or changes to ensurefunctionality performance andcompatibility.

  • Debug andresolve any issues or inconsistencies that arise duringtesting.

  • Update project managementtools or task boards to reflect progress and completion oftasks.

  • Estimate the timerequired for upcoming tasks and planaccordingly.

  • Wrap up anyongoing tasks commit code changes and ensure a clean and organizedworkspace.

  • Reflect on the daysaccomplishments challenges and areas forimprovement.

  • They may workon architectural design tasks discussing and planning how tostructure software components to meet project requirements andscalability needs.

  • Seniordevelopers are often tasked with solving complex technicalchallenges that arise during the developmentprocess.

  • Optimize code improvingapplication performance scalability and load times on both backendand frontend.

  • Conductperformance profiling and analysis identifying areas forimprovement.

  • Seniordevelopers may play a mentoring role providing guidance and supportto junior/intermediate developers in the team helping them grow andimprove their skills.

  • Seniordevelopers participate in testing activities ensuring that theircode works as intended and meets quality standards beforedeployment.

  • Collaboratewith the product and design teams to understand requirements andtranslate them into technicalsolutions.

  • Architect and implementrobust APIs and microservices ensuring seamless integration withfrontend applications.

  • Conduct codereviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code qualityconsistency and adherence to bestpractices.

  • Troubleshoot and debugcomplex issues working closely with the team to implement effectivesolutions.

  • Stay updated with thelatest industry trends and best practices in backend developmentrecommending improvements and innovations for theteam.

  • Collaboratewith DevOps teams to deploy and manage applications in a cloudenvironment ensuring high availability andsecurity.
