About PayU PayU, a leading payment and Fintech company in 50+ high-growth markets throughout Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, part of Prosus group, one of the largest technology investors in the world is redefining the way people buy and sell online for our + merchants and millions of consumers. As a leading online payment service provider, we deploy more than 400 payment methods and PCI-certified platforms to process approximately 6 million payments every single day. To support PayU’s growth plans in India for payments and fintech opportunities, PayU is looking for a senior legal counsel with strong background of M&A, general corporate, capital markets, fintech, technology or financing related legal work together with a possible background in payments, credit and/or other financial services

What are we looking for

The ideal candidate will be an independent, result oriented, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast paced, international, dynamic, and diverse environment. A law degree from a reputed law school in India is essential.  The candidate must demonstrate: A least 7 years of post-qualification experience while we can also look at the bracket of 7 to 12 years of post-qualification experience. Initial background of working with a law firm on M&A, general corporate, capital markets or financing legal work and associated due diligence will be a definite plus. Experience in Indian laws and regulations concerning one or more of banking, NBFCs, digital payments, financial services, fintech businesses, capital markets, payment aggregation, prepaid payment instruments, bill payments, capital markets, intellectual property and technology. Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders. Experience in working with B2B and B2C fintech companies, investment firms or other financial services will be viewed favorably. Ability to think through original new products, expansion into new market verticals and areas relating to innovative fintech and financial solutions. Experience in developing and implementing processes for efficient and streamlined operations surrounding contract negotiations and processes. The ability to provide time-sensitive support on a wide array of legal and regulatory issues in connection with all aspects of PayU's operations in India with the ability to conduct research and form views across different legislations and regulations governing various sectors in India. Strong drafting and communication (both written and oral) skills in English. Key personalities: Efficient, punctual, responsible, transparent, reliable and accountable.
