We have a full-time career opportunity for a Rock Engineer having more than 2 years’ experience. As a Rock Engineer at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects in that will make a real impact. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Sweden, use cutting-edge technology, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients.

About the AFRY Infrastructure Division

Out of AFRY’s Infrastructure Divisions 6,500 employees approximately 60 are Rock Engineers and Geologists in the Swedish headquarter and more than 100 spread across the globe. The team provides analysis, engineering and recommendation for tunnelling, rock reinforcement, slope stability, geological mapping, geochemical risk assessment, and tunnel maintenance.

Your key responsibilities

Designing and engineering of tunnels and slopes including reinforcements and geometry Perform analysis and design based on geological mapping Responsible for advanced rock mechanical calculations Provide support for drawings and to establish 3D models Work closely with peers, line manager and other discipline engineers to ensure delivery that will meet utility standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies and procedures Provide presentations to clients and internal audiences including technical teams and management committees

Qualifications

We expect that you have

A good academic background with a MTech/PhD degree in Rock Mechanics/Engineering Geology or similar from a reputable college Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in infrastructure industry Good knowledge in rock mechanics with the ability to handle advanced calculations and experience in reviewing calculations prepared by other consultants Experience of working with tunnelling or mining Good written and verbal communication skills in English language (CEFR minimum level B1) Excellent technical writing skills Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil3D A good knowledge of working in relevant applications of MS Office

We appreciate if you have

Experience of working with projects in the Nordics Prior experience working with International Codes, European standards, Eurocode: Geotechnical design Working knowledge of tools and techniques for the design and assessment of road and railway tunnels using NATM and TBM principles Knowledge of Bentley Microstation and/or Bentley OpenRoads Experience of working on projects associated with the Swedish Transport Administration Experience in 3D-modelling in Civil3D and/or Bentley Open roads
