Purpose of the Role

The custodian of this role is expected to

● Analyze category margins and store P&L to drive insights on improving category and store

profitability

● Support the Finance function in timely closure of MIS every month, provide valuable business

insights to aid in making business decisions.

● Manage short and medium term finance-led projects such as cost initiatives, NSO performance

tracking and reporting, business modeling, competition tracking etc.

Principal Responsibilities

I. Business Insights and Program Management

● Provide key business insights to drive review and decision making at format / store / category

level – for e.g.: category level GMROF analysis, COC trends

● Margin analysis – deconstruct components of category margin such as intake margin, visibility,

promo etc. and provide inputs on performance vs. trends and budget

● New Store performance tracking and analysis – actuals vs. approved payback. Analyze the input

drivers such as NOB, ATV, bill penetration at each NSO level

● Channel performance – E-com performance analysis by category to identify areas of

improvement

● Cost analysis – deep dive into each store opex cost line to evaluate performance against budget,

identify areas of improvement and cost savings through benchmarking and other initiatives

● Any other time-to-time ad-hoc ongoing information / analytical requirements from

CEO/COO/Head Finance or ex-com.

II. MIS preparation, review and coordination:

● Preparation of various MIS reports for specific formats in line with monthly timelines – for e.g.

P&L, Cluster P&L, COC, Store database, category P&L, e-com P&L etc.

● Store level performance workings for P&L, Balance sheet, category and COC.

● GL analysis - Review of all P&L cost line items – actuals as well as provisions booked every month

end to ensure no deviation/omissions in costs booked

● Ensure Trial balance reflects the correct position of the costs and the same is captured in MIS. If

any errors are identified, work with accounting team and other teams to ensure errors are

rectified

● Coordinate with corporate finance team to ensure proper accrual of corporate overheads

● Circulation of regional P&L with store level information to relevant stakeholders

● Audit support from time-to-time to ensure smooth completion of audit

III. Program management

● Drive cost reduction program through proper reporting and tracking to ensure initiatives are

followed up and completed in a timely manner ensuring high quality delivery

● Lead Automation of MIS and other reports

Education and Experience

1. B.Com graduate with 3 years of experience or CA with 0-1 year of experience in Business Finance
