Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Snowflake Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions, specifically using the Snowflake platform. The Snowflake Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures, ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and efficient for business analytics and decision-making.

What You’ll Do

Design and Develop Data Solutions:  Design and implement scalable data models and architectures in Snowflake, while developing robust ETL processes to efficiently ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.

Optimize and Maintain Data Pipelines:  Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing performance in Snowflake while monitoring and maintaining data pipelines to ensure integrity and reliability.

Collaborate with Stakeholders:  Collaborate with IT and Corporate Systems teams to understand data and integration requirements, ensuring smooth deployment and operation of data solutions, while working closely with the Business Intelligence team and other stakeholders to meet reporting needs.

Data Governance and Security:  Contribute to defining and implementing data governance policies and best practices, while ensuring data security and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting:  Perform performance tuning and query optimization for Snowflake databases, while troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data pipelines and Snowflake environments.

Knowledge Sharing and Training:  Share knowledge with others by providing regular, constructive feedback to support team development, and document data models and processes to ensure designs are traceable.

Proficiency in Snowflake, including SnowSQL, SnowPipe, and other Snowflake features. Strong knowledge of SQL and database design principles. Good understanding of Virtual Warehouses - multi-cluster warehouse, autoscaling. Knowledge of metadata and system objects - query history, grants to users, grants to roles, users. Knowledge in ELT Activities like data processing from multiple source systems. Experience with ETL tools and processes. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services. Experience with data integration tools and APIs. Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data manipulation and analysis. Manage time effectively. Accurately estimate effort for tasks and meet agreed-upon deadlines. Effectively juggle ad-hoc requests and longer-term projects.

Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in similar data engineering role(s), with a focus on cloud-based data solutions and Snowflake. Experience of working within teams tasked with building end to end data solutions.
