Description

: Sabre LGS (Lodging, Ground & Sea) product area is looking for talented Senior Database Engineer who can help us design, development, and optimization of PL/SQL queries, procedures, functions, triggers, and design and maintain database schemas.

Key Responsibilities:
---------------------

Design, development, and optimization of PL/SQL procedures, functions, triggers, and packages to support application requirements. Review and optimize complex SQL queries and PL/SQL code for performance and efficiency, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards. Collaborate closely with application developers to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient PL/SQL code. Work with data architects, developers and database administrators to design and maintain database schemas that align with application requirements. Create and manage logical and physical data models, ensuring data integrity and performance by utilizing tools like Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler Define and enforce coding standards and guidelines for PL/SQL development, conducting regular code reviews to maintain code quality. Optimize stored procedures and queries for large datasets, ensuring efficient data retrieval and manipulation. Automate complex processes using SQL/PLSQL.  Conduct code reviews and participate in technical design. Analyse complex business problems, track down required information, document requirements, and develop technical solutions; Support business customers by providing insight into data structures. MongoDB, Other databases development, design and performance tuning.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in Oracle development environment. Experience in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL packages, Procedures. Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization. Knowledge of Oracle database architecture and design. Experience of database development for large scale complex applications running on Google cloud platform. Exposure to ITIL Processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well within a team environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.

Mandatory Skills:

Expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing complex PL/SQL procedures, functions, triggers, and packages. Experience in performance tuning of SQL queries and PL/SQL code for large datasets. Knowledge of data modelling concepts and tools, with the ability to design and maintain database schemas aligned with application requirements. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and established coding standards for managing PL/SQL codebase. Proficient in analysing query execution plans, optimizing SQL queries, and managing indexes for enhanced database performance. Understanding of data encryption techniques and access control mechanisms to secure sensitive information within databases. Experience in developing and optimizing ETL processes for seamless data integration and migration between different data sources and databases. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment and with cross-functional teams. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Eagerness to stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in the field of database management and PL/SQL development. Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness in database engineering activities. Experience in managing database-related projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring of tasks to ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes.

‘Nice to have’ skills:

Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and their integration with traditional relational databases. Understanding of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or related data processing frameworks. Proficiency in database automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef) for configuration management and deployment automation. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery) for large-scale data analysis. Understanding of data replication and synchronization techniques for ensuring data consistency across multiple databases. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) and programming languages for automation and integration tasks. Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Associates (PS/SQL). Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for generating insights and reports from databases. Monitor and maintain index health, periodically reorganizing or rebuilding indexes to ensure optimal query performance. Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, enabling efficient data integration and synchronization between various data sources and the Oracle database. Stay abreast of the latest developments in PL/SQL, Oracle databases, and related technologies. Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, or methodologies that can enhance the efficiency and capabilities of PL/SQL development and database management.
