Meeting the world's growing energy needs requires the pursuit of innovations and advancements that deliver a better future for all.About the positionChevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Backend Developer: Benchmarking, Target Setting & Performance to join the ENGINE Innovation team; this role will be based in Chevron's office in Bengaluru.Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.Benchmarking, Target Setting & Performance Backend Developer will support Chevron's ENGINE by designing, building, and maintaining databases that store benchmarking, target setting, and performance data. This includes mapping business workflows to data, to build databases that capture actuals, initiatives, and insights to enable competitiveness assessments and performance improvement. The role ensures data integrity, security, and accessibility while enabling connections with both internal and external data sources. The Backend Developer/Specialist will collaborate with analysts, business leads, and technology teams to deliver a robust data infrastructure that supports enterprise-wide benchmarking and performance insights.Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain databases that store benchmarking, target setting, performance, actuals, and initiative dataDevelop and maintain data connections to internal and external sources, ensuring reliable and secure integrationsDevelop data system architecture to enable automation of data pipelines, including transformation of data structures and API integrationsImplement and monitor data governance practices, including quality control, security, and access managementWork with analysts and business teams to structure data in a way that supports benchmarking, target setting, and performance insightsOptimize database performance and scalability to accommodate evolving business needsMap and optimize workflows to ensure efficient data reporting practices and reliabilityConduct regular maintenance, updates, and audits to ensure accuracy and reliability of stored dataCollaborate with IT and data engineering teams to align database solutions with enterprise standardsProvide training and guidance to end-users on data access, tools, and reporting interfaces"About youBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field5-10 years of experience in database development, data engineering, or systems integrationProficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational database platformsDemonstrated experience in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), including building and maintaining data pipelines and API integrationsKnowledge of database platforms and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, AWS, Google Cloud, Planning SpaceFamiliarity with applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to enhance data integration, quality checks, and performance insightsStrong understanding of data governance, quality assurance, and security best practicesExcellent collaboration and communication skills"What we can offer youEverything we do at Chevron is guided by our values and our commitment to The Chevron Way .
