Job Description SummaryAs a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Mechanics and Design Organization, you will work with the Research & Engineering teams in the design, analysis, testing, and validation of systems/ components aerospace turbomachinery systems. You will have opportunity to learn hands-on and contribute to development of innovative and impactful technologies for improved aero engine components. This fixed term stint gives you an opportunity to experience industrial research in aerospace engines, and helps you to groom competencies for a successful career in research.Job DescriptionSite OverviewEstablished in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.Roles and Responsibilities:The Post Doctoral Fellow-ship will help you experience the excitement of a career in engineering research, where you can have real impact on GE Aerospace's products and customers around the world.In this role, you will:Work on 1-2 research projects over 6-9 months in a discipline aligned to your expertiseGrow your technical expertise in your chosen field and expand your skills in new areasCollaborate with diverse teams to develop innovative technologies for GE AerospaceReceive technical insights, mentorship, and coaching from world-class technologistsShare project progress internally and externally through presentations, written reports, and IP disclosuresIdeal Candidate:Should be PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Structural Dynamics.Required Qualifications:PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Structural DynamicsStrong fundamentals, domain knowledge and analytical skillsExecution mindset, self-driven with a sense of urgencyExcellent interpersonal and communication skills in a global team environmentDesired Qualifications:Proven expertise in the fields of structural mechanics or dynamics & vibrations or composites modelling/ characterization or tribology & frettingGood track record through top-notch publications and experience of working in applied research labs in the above areasProficiency in simulation software (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ADAMS)Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learnTransparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructivelyFocused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committedLeadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborativeProblem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.At GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.
