Qualification:

• B.Tech / BE in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Applied Electronics / EEE
• OR Diploma in Electrical / Instrumentation with minimum 5 years of experience

Job Purpose:

To ensure the smooth operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and associated electrical systems in raw material handling, conveyor systems, and smelter/cast house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operation & Maintenance:

2. Perform regular inspection and preventive maintenance of VFDs, motors, and drive panels.

3. Monitor performance of drive systems and identify abnormalities or faults.

4. Ensure minimal downtime of drive-related equipment during operations.

5. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:

6. Diagnose and rectify faults in VFDs, PLC interfaces, and related control systems.

7. Analyze drive fault logs and take corrective actions.

8. Coordinate with OEM or vendors for complex issue resolution.

9. Installation & Commissioning:

10. Assist in installation, parameter setting, and commissioning of new drives and motors.

11. Configure communication networks (Profibus / Modbus / Ethernet) between drives and PLCs.

12. Technical Knowledge:

13. Hands-on experience with ABB, Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Danfoss drives.

14. Understanding of drive control philosophyspeed, torque, PID loops, and protection systems.

15. Familiar with motor alignment, cable sizing, and panel wiring.

16. Documentation & Reporting:

17. Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and service records.

18. Prepare daily / weekly reports on drive performance and downtime.

19. Maintain parameter backup and drive configuration records.

20. Safety & Compliance:

21. Ensure all maintenance activities follow plant safety norms and electrical isolation procedures (LOTO).

22. Support audits and compliance inspections related to electrical systems.

Skills Required:

• Strong knowledge of VFD programming and diagnostics
• Experience in motor control systems and panel maintenance
• Familiar with PLC/SCADA integration
• Good communication and coordination with production & maintenance teams
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in Bauxite Handling / Conveyor / Stacker-Reclaimer systems or Smelter operations
• Exposure to ABB ACS800 / ACS880, Siemens SINAMICS, or Allen Bradley PowerFlex drives
